I received a phone call on Saturday. My truck was built on Friday and was supposed to ship on Saturday according to my salesman. Does that sound right? Can your truck be built one day and shipped out the next??

Just found out my production date is 5/6 and that I should have it around the 3rd week of May. Hopefully I get the truck by then because I have a camping trip planned to the Grand Canyon over Memorial Day weekend and was planning on driving the truck there!

For everyone who have their trucks already, how long after your production date was your truck delivered to your dealership?

Well, looks like my waiting game is over for now. Dealer said toyota approved my order, build date was 3/31, and that delivery would be tomorrow (4/26). But they neglected to say that it wasnt going to be the truck i ordered. Instead they just allocated one that was similar. Dont really want to blow that much money on something i'm not sold on, and i definitely do not want to give the dealer my money after the way they treated us. You would think if someone was going to blow around 36k theyd treat you better...

 

Nothing would piss me off more... So irritating. The first dealer I went to lost my business by pulling shady shit like that too. The reason I went to that dealership in the first place is because two of my friends work there and they promised me they would make sure I was treated right. I wasn't shy about telling my friends to go jump in a lake after being lied to and a variety of other unsettling things. The second dealer did everything they said they were going to do. It turned out to be a great experience and I am glad I cut my losses with the first dealer when I did. I can't stand rewarding people/businesses with poor customer service.

 

I'm so angry. The guy never answered our calls, it took him weeks to get back to us in the beginning and that was after we got mad and asked to be put with a different sales person. They knew this whole time, i am baffled that they waited until the day before delivery to tell us that it wasnt going to be what i ordered. But at the same time they have a win win because it's still getting sold at the end of the day. I will def be using a different dealer when if i try again.

 

Another angry customer here. I mentioned before that my last order "failed", which they didn't tell me about until a week after the build date... when in fact it was really that they weren't guaranteed the truck and it went to a different dealer.

I then searched the country for what I was looking for and found one in another state. I spoke to the dealer, put down a deposit, booked flights, and had my financing all ready to go. I was suppose to fly out there to get it on Friday, but I am now told the truck has been sold. It was at another dealer and was sold before they could pick it up.

Really pissed off. Getting tired of this now and will probably give up on the waiting and go in a different direction. Who would've thought it would be so difficult.

 

These stories are not fun to hear, and it is sadly a very easy process to submit an order or a locate. I would say about 65% of the trucks I sell are locates or orders. I was lucky enough to be able to submit a change order for a 2016 Tacoma Double Cab Long Bed in Super White with the FP (JBL) package and a handful of accessories without fail and was able to clearly track it from production date to delivery date which was today. Not only that but being that I work for the Dealership I heard when the truck was there, flew over to the lot, and was able to drive my truck off the carrier (God bless the trusting transport driver who was amazing!)

I am so sorry that there are people in the automotive industry that simply cannot get $hit done. Its disappointing and tarnishes the brand and the industry to some degree. I will be more than happy to myth bust or verify anyone's locate or build with a VIN to cut through the smoke and mirrors that I hear of going on. I would do the same for my customers.

Well I'm about to place an order for a White dbcb trd or lb, its going to be a long wait....
