Wheel spacers. Good or bad?

Beautiful truck and stance indeed. Thanks for answering my question re: towing with spacers. It is or should be a given fact that aftermarket mods are sure to have some adverse effect on one part of the truck or another sooner or later, but hey it's the assumed risk we take when start modding.

 

I am also running spider spacer with the "sema" wheel zero issues so far

 

Looks great. Is that with 265/70/17 bfg ko2? How big is the spacer? Any frontal shots?

 

No they are 285 wild peaks at3 the spacer is 1.25 I believe that is all spider makes for 2nd gene could be wrong I'll post some front shot tommarow morning

 

Is it complicated installing the spacers? I'm not mechanically inclined? I guess spidertrax are cheaper so I guess only option is 1.25. Anyone complain on the stance?

 

Installation is about as simple as changing a tire. Take tire off, bolt spacer onto truck, and bolt tire onto spacer. Bam.

 

This is my setup on 16s w 285s so similar to your wheel/tire height . I had spacers and I can say from my experience spacers suck and will cost you boocoo bucks down the line, as it did me. Bearings, the spacers cracked, replaced, fud up one of my studs, cracked again, oblonged the holes in my wheels requiring purchase of new wheels, it goes on... either stay stock, or if you must, get wheels backspaced but with less final results than what you are proposing though, and still expect problems with alignment bearings other stuff..my 2 cents
Bought spacer as a quick cheap way to get my 285s off my UCAS i wish I had bought wheels instead, and so does my wallet

Haha, how long were they on there? Were you running super-sized tires???

 

A year and a half or so, 285/75/16s , not really a monster tire, but near the upper end of very common tire sizes for a 2 to 3 inch lift.

 

I think a good deal of the problems can be attributed to knucklehead oil x and tire rotation places, using air tools to tighten lugs (aluminum is brittle) and/or not torqueing the lugs, or leaving the lugs loose...

 

The dealership goes in the knucklehead category, btw

How can I fix my UCA rub without spacers on stock wheels then?

 

I'm running 1.5in spacers on my trd or wheels 20k miles no problems 265/75/16 tires just make sure to use a little loctite and torque them down.

 

You can run 10mm spacers to bring the wheel out more, however Toyota uses very short wheel studs which may cause some issues with not having enough stud to thread onto. You will have to get extended wheel studs which will definitely be recommended.

To space or not to space? Just finished my lift this weekend and trying to squeeze in the 285/75/16 KO2's on stock rims has my alignment all out of whack. Lots of good info here, but i'm going with 1.25" spacers.
