Has anyone added a hood scoop to their truck? I really love the newer models with this feature. I've looked into getting a scoop and adding it to my hood. From what I've seen, the scoop is relatively cheap (<$20). My questions is, how would I go about obtaining paint that would match my truck? Does anyone know how much the paint would cost? This is about the only way I'm going to get a vehicle with a hood scoop for a while...

Wow VERY nice! I was thinking more along the lines of the scoops that come with the tape to install them. I know I can't afford what you've done and what I'm thinking of certainly won't look as good as yours. Will scoops even stay on if they're taped down? I'm just looking into this as a CHEAP mod, but something that will look nice too.

I had a glasswork Unlimited hood on it ( thats my old truck I sold over 3 years ago).

the latch on the glassworks hood broke and the hood came up at 55 mph :(

I loved the hood pictured above, but it was not a "cheap" mod

Hey Rick, you give me the money and I'll get a nice one installed! lol I'm just curious if anyone out there has used the 3M tape and what it looks like. No doubt, it's probably not going to look freakin' awesome, but it's an idea... I've seen these scoops on E-bay for practically nothing and if I could do all the work, it would be a really cheap mod.

Stick on or no-stick on, it's still a non-functional scoop. In my mind, this is like arguing about stupid or stupider.

Fake non-functioning hood scoops are bad enough, but a stick-on fake non-functioning scoop is taking it to a new level! I put them right up there with the fake stick-on air vents. I read on another forum where a guy decided to make his own fog lights... He cut the bottom of coffee cans into circles the size of his light housing and painted them yellow.

Hey a clip on tie gets the job done! hahaha. sometimes things just look good and people want the looks and dont care to much about the functionality. the scoop just makes the truck look better if you ask me. it wasnt put on there to function in the first place.

The more i see the 'non-functional' scoop from the front, the more it reminds me of looking at someone with a really cartoonish set of false teeth. It seems like they could have done a better job with the 'opening'.

Whatever floats your boat i guess.

If we did everything for function, we would all be running black steel wheels too? why would you shop for nice looking wheels or opt for alloys on a truck? ;)

I never really understood this kind of opinion. I understand the thought with the 3 foot wings people put on their hatcbacks and the huge grape fruit shooter mufflers, but a little aesthetics are a nice things when done right.

but I am not a fan of stick on stuff either, but to each their own,

    happy modding

A hood scoop suggests the engine needs/benefits from cool air/extra induction. Wheels are known to be purely decorative (but even then, still aren't, as backspacing, diameter, and other wheel specs affect function such as tire size and attendant load rating).

One is bullshitting, the other isn't, essentially, is what I'm getting at.

Doesn't make the biggest difference to me...I don't and will never have a hood scoop on my truck, so I'm not the one looking silly.
