Any help is great. I've already recieved lots of help and info, but i can use more. Anyone have an estimate for how much these things cost at a salvage yard? Such as tranny and fj cruiser t-case? I want to know how much i need to save up to do this

Average cost I've seen for someone to get ahold of everything is ~3k. Can be done cheaper if you just wait and hunt for deals. I'm in the process of acquiring parts to swap mine.

I think you can modify your current transmission. The only difference is the output shaft, the speed sensor rotor, and the tail housing. I have a A750F with all the parts needed. The transmission is only good for parts. I will sell it cheap just to get rid of it if someone is interested.

I modified my A340 transmission to make it 4wd. I had a shop do it for me. I pulled the transmission and brought it to them with the replacement parts. They only charged me $200 to swap in the new parts. It was a lot cheaper than buying a replacement transmission.

Thats something to consider, but if i can pluck a 750f from a 4x4 taco at a wreck yard for less, thatd be great. Im basically at the mercy of luck and timing with findind parts

Check out www.car-part.com It searched junkyards all over the country. Pretty helpful. Also I used https://www.amayama.com/en/ to pickup a bunch of parts I couldn't find at the junkyard. They are way cheaper than everyone else. Shipping is a bit much and takes awhile so it's best to gather a big list and do one large order with them.

Some people say im dumb or crazy for wanting to do this. I just like challenging myself and learning by working on my taco. Ill learn alot from this and be able to say i did it. Talk about a mod worth bragging about

Other cool mods i want to do are on board air, on board welder, and led bar in the front bumper slot. Lots of other things, but those are going to be the first i get to

Drove mine for the first time after completing the conversion lastnight. Everything works great, no leaks, no vibes on the highway this morning. I'm pretty happy. I think it took me about 3.5 weeks just working on it in my free time every day. I need to add up my total cost but with buying a few missing bolts and fluids I am under $2500.

I'll take the bashing... If I wanted 4x4 I would have bought it. Not that I already twice wished I had it but shit.... my time is worth more then a that mod is worth... just saying OP.

Believe me, i wouldve bought a 4x4 to begin with. But the prerunner i have is what my parents gave me a few years back and i love it. Ive done some mods to it and ive grown attached to my prerunner taco, which is why i want to convert it instead of trading it in. Plus, i love working on vehicles. So this is like giving a kid a box of legos, which i also had as a kid. Along with many hand tools. I spent alot of my time taking shit apart and playing with legos. I didnt have any friends at the time so i studied and disected rc cars and game controllers foloowed my taking apart my great grandma's computer chair time and time again:sawzall:

The most difficult part of the whole thing will be wiring. My dad can help me with welding for the tranny crossmember and i'm mechanically inclined enough to remove and replace the parts. However, @jowybyo said, in a pm, that he can tell me how to tale care of that once I get it all going. But instill dont understand how the wiring works
