I can vouch for Eric. He's a good dude. Really helpful. Definitely not just hating on another company. Just because something isn't documented doesn't mean it didn't happen. I don't know if it did or not, but it's not really that big of a deal.

For example, I bought some speakers a while back, they came broken so I contacted the company and got replacements sent. It isn't documented anywhere on the internet and most people love the company and have no issues. I've had an issue though. Just my .02

its not a matter of vouching for anyone im sure hes a good dude but claims should be supported by facts unless you want to get called out.

Making a statement like "billet UCAs will spit the uniball out because they suck and I dont like Icon" is not a fact, its an opinion. Any C clip or spiral lock can fail its not a tubular to billet issue and neither is more prone to it than the other . As I said he have installed hundreds of sets of billet arms, on all different platforms of vehicles and have yet to see any of them have an issue with either the billet or tubular arms and failure would more likely be related to poor maintenance than parts failure in this instance.

I get that but you just said he's probably just a hater. I was saying I don't think he is. That is what I was vouching for. He might have seen a few instances where they had issues. They might be freak incidents that came from lack of care. Doesn't mean that all of them are about to fall apart. He didn't say that they split because he doesn't like Icon, he just said they split. Then he added that he doesn't like Icon.

I don't know I just don't see why there has to be documentation of everything for it to be fact. It's probably just very uncommon and whoever he knows with them is just unlucky. Or I could be completely wrong and he's lying. I have no clue though so I won't call anybody out. And nobody has any clue but the people involved.

Making a statement that says "I dont like Icon products in General" and making bold claims about product failures would make you a hater.

Dropping a uniball would be a pretty catastrophic failure and cause a ton of damage to the vehicle, and would be something that a shop and customer would want to document, at least I know we would. But to truly "spit a uniball" is nearly impossible, not completely but the force to do so would be insane. You would literally have to shatter an entire spiral lock or C-clip and completely remove it from the cup. Thats not an easy task

Since this has gone far off the intended course and you are already here, who do I talk to at SDHQ about getting a new landing pad for this jack I bought? First time I used the short riser it folded right off the pad and pulled the retaining sections up.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Sorry nobody ever said split. I misread... Would you have access to if a shop documented an issue internally? I don't have access to SDHQ's records but I don't know how it works for you shops.

I did find a couple people mentioning issues with their Icons though. Not sure if this is related to the claims made since I've never seen an Arm with retention issues. The FJ seems more similar than the Runner. The uniball had some play after a very short time. They are the tubular arms though. Also I love Icon so I'm not a hater. My whole rig is set up with Icon.

Just glanced at these as they are the first two that popped up on google haha.

Here is a 4Runner who had some weird issues with theirs after a few months. Pics aren't showing on mine but seems like it was serious. Here is an FJ whose uniballs had play after a few months. (Tubular)

Anyway, I'm stoked for the expo. Looks like I'll get to arrive earlier than I thought now. Can't believe it is less than a month away.

Now you're trying to take my words and twist them around, I said I was sharing my opinion with a 'customer' of ours.... @SixthSnail is a customer of ours, I was giving him my opinion on the Icon Billet UCAs. He can take it with a grain of salt, I'm only 1 person. I'm not saying everyone has the issue with the product, in fact I said it's probably a very select number of people with the issue. And yes, it was a couple friends who also happen to be customers have had the problem and I've seen it first hand, they're who I referenced in my original reply.
Could it be lack of maintenance as you say? Maybe. They're on trucks that get driven daily and get hundreds of miles offroad regularly. The average person isnt going to tear things down and replace parts just for the hell of it like someone racing would, it's just not practical to expect that, therefore some issues may arise that others never witness or experience.

Maybe you havent seen the issue first hand, but just because you can't find proof of something on the internet doesn't mean that it isnt real or hasn't happened. Not everyone is super technologically inclined and aims to go on the internet and air out issues or bash a company regarding an issue, some still prefer a phone call and keeping things one on one with a company. I think that's admirable. Why post everywhere about an issue that may be 1 in a thousand before a company may have an opportunity to resolve an issue directly.

And I'm no 'hater' I have my preferences just like the next guy does. I can back up my opinions with worthwhile facts and experiences. I'm not calling out people who choose to buy products from other fabricators instead of ours, everyone has their reasons for their choices for anything they may buy. For the record, I said I didnt care for Icon, I also don't really care for Fox either. Does that make me a Fox hater? No, once again I've ran their products and tend to prefer those from other shock companies as well based on my experiences. I have my reasons, I don't need to come on here and list out everything I like or dislike about a product to simply state an opinion. I stated my opinion and my experiences, just like you've shared yours. I may sound like a hater to you, to me you sound like an Icon fanboy.

Don't forget to get your paparazzi on with the AT Habitat for me. I want to keep my new L-track camera riser rails but haven't been Elle to tell if they will work with it or not. If you see any Kimberley Kampers take some staler shots of them too. Waiting for ours to get to the top of the build que.

Is this a Pro Eagle Jack?

If so a claim would have to be placed through them, but they have a great customer service team. Just give them a call

You need to read the complete posts, neither are related to the subject at hand. A uniball is a moving component, they will pit and wear out even if cared for correctly. Its the nature of parts like this. It's not exclusive to Icon. I could find you threads about every UCA on the market similar to this. We replace the Uniballs and Heims on the race truck after every race, even the short races leave a brand new FK Uniball trashed.

You certainly like to backtrack on your statements a lot.

You made a pretty broad accusation about billet UCAs having "Uniball retention issues" which is simply a completely fabricated statement because you "don't like Icon products", there are no facts, no evidence to support your claim.

I run Icon, but I've also had good luck with Fox King and Bilstein as my build has progressed. My preference for Icon is based upon research and hands on application of the product. I suggest you do the same before make statements you can't support with facts or you will get called out.
