Guys forgive me if this has been discussed as i have been away from this forum since the "3rd Gen" was released, but I mean come on....the 3rd Gen shares a lot of parts with the seconds gen right? I know the power train is new, and the front grill ect are different(ish) BUT: i feel that the step from 1st gen to 2nd gen was REALLY a COMPLETE reDesign. I mean almost everything is different between the 1st and 2nd ten (frame, doors, control arms, body, power train) but i see a lot of similarities between 2nd and 3rd gen....maybe I'm crazy! feel free to comment!

If this was in the turd gen section you would be burned at the stake right now as they love their precious, "all new", and as most say "way better than the archaic 2nd gen" trucks and will defend their $39k trucks to the death. That is if they arent dealing with transmission issues or limping back to the dealer with a crankshaft position sensor failure all while vibrating there.

Wouldn't it be great if it was a smallish full size truck? Like first gen was compact, second gen was midsize, and third gen would be the size of an old f150 or 1500 since the tundra is a huge mofo. Now that would be a complete redesign. :blahblah:

Absolutely nothing new about the 3rd Gen. Except the grill. Heck the 3.5L V6 isn't new either since Toyota has used it in other vehicles I believe?

Lots of aftermarket parts that fit 2005-2015 Tacomas fit on 2016's. Skid plates. Suspension. I saw a 2016 TRD Off-Road in the local custom shop. They were doing a ton of mods to it and told me aside from the motor everything else was basically the exact same.

I think I'm glad I bought a 2015 before the 16's came out. Cost me less money too. Local dealer sells the 2016 Tacoma SR5 Quad Cab 4x4 for $2k more than I paid for mine. And that's not even the Long Bed like I got.

    2016 Tacoma uses the 2GR-FXE 3.5L V6
    From Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_GR_engine
I did see the very same 2016 Tacoma (Quicksand color) on my way home tonight that was in the local shop. Running on 35's, black plate bumper up front, and some serious bro lean....

IMO I think the third gen is really a return to the past in terms of drivetrain shrinking down a bit. These trucks show a lot better in person that via photo. I would drive one only after it's been out a few years and the kinks have been ironed out of them, but I'm not going to get rid of my gen 2 until it's dead lol. Love this truck!

You missed his sarcasm man. His response is the kind of actual crap responses that are proliferating over in the 3rd gen cesspool
