I would go with a refurbished gopro, if your looking to save money, if not go new. There's a lot of companies making action cams, but a lot lack support overtime, or the big thing accessories and growth.
Here's an eBay refurb sale going on:

Also there's this, Chinese knock off version of the GoPro, these things from camera websites actually get really good reviews: $80+10 more if you order an under water case for it which it doesn't come with:

How can water in AZ be California water? Thats just stupid. How about them Commiefornians use some of their smarts to perfect Desalination and clean ocean water? Yes its expensive and it uses energy but thats always the initial reaction.

We are approaching that 5k page mark soon and honestly im surprised we haven't done it on our own. Im not sure AZ can let Houston have a 3.0 for so long and not join the fun anymore.

Maybe you are here to make it a repeat visit?

I've got a Hero 2 and a Hero 3 silver. Use the crap out of them for bowfishing and a few hunts. @Techoma you are more than welcome to borrow either to run it for a while and see if you like them.

Josh is the new one a complete redesign? I'm sure you're not supposed to give out any specific details.

It's definitely different than the normal gopro. Much bigger. ;)

Yeah I've thought about selling my 3 and upgrading to the 4 just for the LCD screen.

My dad has a 3 and couldn't justify spending the money to upgrade to the 4. I think he was right, wait for the 5 (or what every they call it).

Battery drain isn't bad, I don't use the wi-fi or LCD except for initial setup. Was I have the picture I want, I turn those off. I also have a USB power supply that plugs into the back and is a waterproof housing. So on my bike or in my truck, I run it off USB.

Hm...I just bought two Hero 4 blacks for my research, but it seems like it'll be worth buying the next version when it is available?

PS - anyone know of a good underwater 360deg camera? I want to get one of these too, but the only one I'm finding for a reasonable price is the Nikon KeyMission 360 which isn't available yet.

That's a good idea on the usb. I either use the head strap or attach it to the upper limb of my bow when bowfishing. I just use the app to make sure it's pointing where I want it and then shut it off.

I haven't messed around with it much on my truck yet but I'm planning a trip for my birthday Thursday. I might use it to film my suspension and make sure everything is working right.
