More shit then I ever planned on doing
I don't usually deal with paving but for some reason I've been involved in the last 5 paving jobs. Hope the office isn't trying to tell me something cuz I hate paving! Lol

I met him a while ago on a overland trip. He's a ranger in the park. Lives in the valley-your location says YNP so I thought you might know if he's still there.
    Oh. Drives a DCSB, silver.

I think you guys did the Google Mayfield project with my old company (Jensen) for Devcon.
I just completed a 10- week PM class through United Contractors and there were 4 "Team Ghilotti" attendees. They explained that there are 4 Ghilotti companies, so it could have been one of the others.

I recently did 7 TCP's (per Caltrans standards) for a project in Pleasanton. People are idiots. We have a godamn 580' taper and they still knock down the delineators.

Any camping spot suggestions between King City and Prunedale? Leaving SB right now and have a meeting in Mountain View tomorrow morning. Planning to stop along the way for the night.

400 employees. Half have the title of Ranger, regardless of what the actually do. Was he a naturalist/biologist type or LE type?

I'll keep my eyes peeled for the truck. I seem to recal one like that.

There's also a 16 OR DC SB mag grey that's parked up by the federal courthouse.

there's decent camping at Lake Nacimento in south monterey county.

this is pretty far off the highway, but absolutely gorgeous,

if you're on 101, you'll need to traverse Fort Hunter Liggett, last time I had to drive across that base, I needed photo ID, and up to date insurance information, they also checked my registration. I don't know if they are still doing that.

arroyo seco is pretty cool, too.

k, wait, you're just looking for somewhere to car camp on the side of the road, not a full featured campground, not if you just left at 10pm, hah! ok, find Gloria Road, east of US101, you'll need google or something to find the road to it, its all back roads. top of the hill is really remote, no traffic at all, should be able to camp on a pullout most anywhere up there.

anyone ever turn down a good job with amazing pay because you felt like you would hate life if you went there?

Had a tough time telling them no thanks. I already spent the large salary increase in my mind.

fffuuuuuuuuu. I got ripped by the mother in law for not taking it. "there goes your house, your truck you want...anything and everything!".

It was a very robotic job, basically copying blueprints from paper to CAD and repeat on next project. in a room with 4 other people, dead silent, no talking. Also the other co workers seemed very threatened by me.

I still wish I took the other job sometimes but I wouldn't be able to afford my truck or my house if I did.

that would be the only reason i took it. I do a lot where im at now but its also a family company. Theres 4 people, im one of the core and will stay forever so long as i keep growing the company. I get paid a fair wage, always want more but were in year 3 and were growing hand over fist. So its just a matter of time, but im severely impatient. Also very good odds this company falls into my hands if i play it right down the road.

That was me 4 years ago. Was working at Kaiser for 6 years and going to grad school at the same time. Finished grad school and at the same time had an offer in management at Kaiser. I woulda been set for life. Chose to instead be a school counselor and haven't regretted it at all.

Obviously money doesn't even compare, but I can't complain. I still get to mod my truck, own a house in the expensive ass Bay Area, travel the world and I love my job. Did I mention I get winter break, spring break, and summers off? :D
