That law has been in effect in Newfoundland since 2003. Lots of tickets were issued the first year or so but just about every teenage girl that drives by lately has a phone to her ear.

Quebec and Nova Scotia has had a ban in effect for awhile as well.

Glad it worked out for you.

My 16-yr-old niece was following her mother down a 2-lane highway last year or so (both driving Ford Explorers). Her mother stopped behind someone who was waiting to turn left. My niece was reading a text message on her phone and slammed into the back of her mother at about 35 MPH without even hitting the brakes - pushing her into the vehicle in front of her waiting to turn left. Luckily, everybody walked away, but both Explorers were trashed and the car up front sustained some damage too. Heck of a way to learn a lesson - but it certainly could have been worse.

They can make cell phone use/texting while driving illegal all they want, but it's not going to help much. How do you enforce that? Invincible teens and idiot adults will continue to do it anyway. Every time I come to a stop now, I plot out an escape path just in case and watch my rearview.

True, How do you enforce it.. " I wasn't texting Officer, I was dialing and using hands free!" Not to mention it seems everytime I see an officer drive by they are talking on their phones.. Oh, training.. Yeah. bs.. it's ability to multitask.

Plus some people, like myself have no problem multitasking, Driving and talking. I know my abilities. And when trafiic gets heavy, I let the person go..

Huh? Is that something in YOUR state insurance rules.
In Kalifornia your ins. would fix her car and you would have to pay a deductible to get yours fixed. Though I've had it waved when the other party had the same company.
That's WHY you have insurance afterall.

yep, it would have been a claim on my insurance, so i would have to pay the deductible, but I would only have to pay one deductible for her/mine vehicle. its no big deal now, she said not to worry about it, so I beat the dent out of my bull bar's skid plate.

Yeah so true, out here in Kalifornia everyone's all about lawsuits. If it isn't about the hot coffee at Mcdonalds its about suing the person whose home you broke into because you injured yourself while trying to carry out their 80" LED TV.
