Strange noise when turning off truck

2015 Off-Road.. When I turn the key off it makes a "whirring" sound for a few seconds. I don't believe there's a problem, I'm just curious to know what it is. Is it just venting accumulated awesomeness?

 

Normal...on the newer trucks it's something to do with emissions i believe.

 

Air induction system aka smog pump. Mine does it too

 

My '15 OR 4X4 wizzes, pops, and hisses when you shut it off, all emission stuff.

My 2014 makes a sort of clunk sound. I've listened to other tacomas from many different years and seems to be present on all of them.

2012+ V6 trucks saw the introduction of the Air injection pump for emissions. (I4 trucks had them since 05). In 2013 the system saw the introduction of the shutdown purge (which is what you are hearing). This is to help clear any moisture that may of built up in the pump and exhaust header valves so they do not fail.

The Air injection pump only runs on startup (2012+) and shutdown (2013+) v6 trucks and only does it on startup at temps above ~ 38*F
