Getting some rub while turning hard, but normal city driving is no problem. Picking up spacers today. going with 1.25"

AAL kits are not difficult except for the one part where you have to get all the leafs to line up to the pin. We needed 2 jacks, C-clamp, and had to cut the pins down prior to install. Lots of vids on you tube can show you how and give you some insight.

Like I said, I don't know what I'm talking about. I just realized I was talking about Leaf helper kit Like This and y'all are talking about adding a leaf. in that case. Is the Dakar a good option for say $200? I'm pretty set on spending that much at a time on parts. Saving up for a few weeks for the Bilsteins, then may as well do the add a leaf at the same time. If that's the case, I'll have to hold off for another 2 weeks at least on the build. Do you have any cost effective tips? I'll be doing a lot of the work with my buddy (who is a mechanic) looking over my shoulder (he's alright with a case of beer payment).

Check out wheelers offroad. An AAL is about $80. That's what I'm running

These leafs will not add any lift. They will just help stop the truck from sagging due to overloading. If you are going for a lift the Dakar's are a cost effective option. they will give you 1.5" to 2" depending on the model truck. But if you are going to lift the back you should do the front first. The truck will already have a rake, and if you lift the back even more you will look pretty foolish.

No vibes in the drivetrain. I have head of guys getting them in the front on a 4x4, but not sure we get them with RWD only.

Since he already said he doesn't know what he's doing I wouldn't have suggested Dakars until we know what he wants to use the truck for.
I PM'd him so hopefully I can help him without going off topic.

Thanks for your help guys! Hopefully you'll get to see the finished product in a couple weeks. I've decided against replacing the leaf spring bushings as I said I was going to in the past; I looked at the closely and the stock ones are somehow still holding up. The squeaking must be coming from the leafs themselves, going to clean between the springs this weekend with brake cleaner while I'm replacing rotors and see what that'll do. I saw that may be a solution.

After I went wheeling, my leafs squeaked like CRAZY. A week later, I installed my AAL and there was so much sand and dirt between each leaf. Cleaned it out and the squeaking stopped. You can also cut up a bike tire innertube and glue it between leafs. That's a common fix

YES. This is what I plan on doing this weekend. Did you take the springs apart or did you just pry open with a crowbar? For either one, how tough was it? Again, I'm a beginner with beginner's tools but I'm no dumbass and I'll have a buddy who has a better mechanical head than me.

I did it while I installed my AAL. To do so, you have to pull apart the leafs. So to answer your question, they were pulled apart but only because they needed to be. AAL install wasn't the easiest.

I installed my Dakar pack alone in my driveway. I used 4 jacks in all to get the leafs lined up to get mounted correctly. It was a PITA.
