Excellent product, quick shipping, instructions good enough that I couldn't screw it up. I think the black on quicksand looks good.

 

I got mine installed today...finally had nice enough weather to do it.
When I was squeegy ing the last letter I pushed too hard with my thumb and I tore the last "A" right at the top right hand corner...piss me off!
You can only notice if you look closely, but now I worry that letter won't last as long as the rest...anybody have a spare "A" in black reflective?

Just want to add few cents here. I would rather go for ABS plastic letters instead of vinyl. They are much easier to install and more durable. on eBay all sellers are selling vinyl paper thin letters. I do not like them, go to Amazon and search for Tacoma Black or Chrome Letters and make sure you read description that says letters are not Vinyl or Decals but ABS plastic! Also one seller is selling Tacoma Chrome letters for glove box there!

Interesting first post by a new member. Looks like someone is trying to drum up some business!

BDTrims is a real piece of work! He is the one that used the images of the vinyl tailgate letters posted here by members without their consent for his listing of ABS plastic inserts. His current Amazon listing for the tailgate letters is actually the photoshop concept image that I originally made! Not surprisingly, he is now using one of my glove box insert images for his Amazon listing. Beware of sellers that don't show that actual products that they are selling AND instead show pictures of the products that they claim are inferior to theirs.

The vinyl decals give the "painted on" look that you can't get with the ABS plastic and retains the stamped metal characteristics of the tailgate. In terms of durability, under all but the most extreme conditions, the matte black vinyl will likely last longer than most people will own their truck!

Nice post. But the questions is, if i ever mention from who exactly you need to buy? bdtrims or mav_vs (you mentioned MAV_VS in the personal message, i can't even find him on Amazon). I just added my personal opinion and of course you might not like it! People may try searching Amazon for ABS products and there are few sellers who sell them. I never said you should buy from any particular seller, i said buy ABS from any seller there. On eBay i can't find people selling ABS plastic letters, only vinyl.

Then i went ahead and checked bdtrims on amazon, if you scroll down the page for Tacoma Black, you would see numerous pictures from customers and that what they used. If you think those pictures are yours you may want to contact each customer who posted their picture and claim that they are yours.

Again, just my few cents.

 

I'm not bashing ABS. It is a fine product. But you show extremely poor etiquette here. I started this thread to promote my idea and my product after gauging interest from this group. Then you come here on your very first post with no credibility to promote some products on Amazon and bash my products.

If you wish to promote others (or your own) products, you are free to start your own thread.

@rrentrop Has a great product! tailgate inserts, glove box inserts, door sill protector inserts among other things! Great customer service and great products!

 

Just an FYI, I removed the reflective black tailgate decals after five months to put the matte black ones back on. The reflective vinyl was still adhered to the tailgate very strongly and required a bit of effort to remove. I know it's only been a few months but for anyone questioning the durability of these and the matte black vinyl I would compare them to be just as good as the B-pillar vinyl.

BTW, the matte black is definitely more noticeable on the darker colors (MGM, Black) than the reflective black (during the day, of course!).
