Welcome man. The Slab is about 5 miles from me, and is usually open. It's part of the Alabama federal wildlife reserve.

Look up my username on youtube, if you want to see the video's I've posted from our runs there.

I believe you're thinking of The Bowl, and the land was sold to a company who is farming the ground gas there.

I will definitely check out the videos. U know of any trails around this area? Maybe some with camping? Also has anyone been to the skyway motorway in Talladega?

Montevallo, literally 1 mile from the sign that says "exact latitude/longitude center of Alabama" lol

It's in a graveyard by the way.

We have done Skyway, and it's mostly a gravel road. Has some nice scenery, and a few ruts from what I hear if you're looking to test out the 4WD.

All in all, pretty safe run.

Keep an eye on this thread. We do meets and Offroad trips randomly.

Yeah get some diff fluid, you will loose some while changing out the bushing. Its better to go ahead a flush out and completely change it out, especially since you have little more mileage.

It passes through the Cahaba river a couple times, never tried fishing there though.

Got my eye on a set of retrofits also, but so expensive.

I know what i can and can't do and building my own retros is beyond me. To many things I could mess up, and don't want to waste all that money if i do. Buying them already done is stupid expensive. Building something simple wouldn't be too bad.

This is true, but I also don't have the guts to go for it.
