On a serious note. What psi do you have your regulator set at for the ARB locker?
Do you or csn you hear it lock? Mine is working as i have tested it inbyhe air. But i cant hear it lock like i have heard with itger rigs.mine is silent.
When i have time i will post some pics of my install. Yours was my inspiration ,somewhat.

 

Thanks bud. Yea you can hear it click. I have mine set at 90 psi. IIRC the proper range is 85-105

 

I think i have mine at 90 as well. Maybe im just loosing my hearing. I turn 40 next month, and i definitely have lost some hearing on my left side. I know its engaging as i lifted the rear and tested it. Locks and unlocks. But i cant hear shit. Maybe its just me.

 

Sorry I should have been more clear. The regulator doesn't click. The solenoid/relay from the ARB locker clicks. I have mine right next to each other so I confused the two.

 

Oh ok, i think the both of us are unclear. I was thinking the locker it self made a latching sound. The siloniod definitely makes niose. Click on and hiss off.the air releasing.

Looks great! Having relocated the spare tire hanger back an inch, I can sympathize with the tight working space. And at wife comment.

 

I spoke with ARB for a while before completing my set up, and was told by Mitch at ARBUSA that the new locker models can run anywhere from 75psi-150psi, and supposedly the higher the better for a clean engagement. My compressor kicks on at 135psi, and off when the tank is charged to 150 psi.

 

Im not sure i have a newer model. My instructions say 85-105. Can you clearify what new model is. I see on there web site they made changes but im unclear on when they made the changes.

 

I'm not sure about how to tell, I have the

RD121 and the

$1,110 RD129 Air Locking Differential

RD129. This is the email I got from Mitch on 4/7/16:
"You can run the solenoids from any air source between 70-150 psi. They don’t really care where the air comes from as long as you can screw the fittings in and turn them on and off."

 

Who has an ARB twin mounted inside the cab? I know I have seen it in here but can't remember who did it. Is it really loud? Mainly when running a locker. Don't really care if its loud when airing up tires since Ill be outside anyway

Hmm. I would think i have a new one, but they did make a change resently, but im not clear when this change happened but it may make a difference as the change was with the seals i think but im not 100% sure im going by memory off what i read on there site. Good to know that they can handle higher psi. I may have to do sone more research on this.

Perfect. I want to put mine in the rear AC storage compartment area for a clean air draw. Noise was my only concern. Any over heating issues?

Want to put it on the driver rear since my dual battery system is going on the passenger rear

 

Here's my setup:



It sits about 3" from the plastic back seat cover when the seat is up, so I may have to put some heat shield on the back of the seat, but haven't aired up yet. I'll probably just tilt the seat down for now when airing up, but my lockers run off the tank, so the compressor rarely kicks on unless I'm airing up tires.

 

That's a good point. I think I remember the actual locker making a click noise when it engages. I can test later today when I get home

 

Nice, jealous of you DC guys. I just stripped my AC rear seats. Cant fit 6' guys in the back for long hauls. Putting it to great use now.

No tank for me yet. That will NOT be in the cab thats for sure.

Unless you pack the back seats I would say stick with dropping the seat to air up. Good airflow never hurts, especially on big tires

 

Got this to install at some point. Just have to figure out:
1.) Where I can/should mount it
2.) What size wire to run from the battery to the compressor and if I can just snip the gator clamps off and splice the wires together
