Worth consideration; In MOST cases, stock air filters and stock air boxes will flow all the air a stock motor can use. Aftermarket may be capable of flowing more air in theory, but will only pass as much air as the motor draws in.

it is perhaps all for naught but i've had good luck out of the k&n drop in filters i've been using i figured it's worth a try but probably more beneficial if done along with the lce header idk free air in fre air out it's just a 2.7 so can't expec t much

My friend who races dirt track swears by using dry K&N filters and a K&N filter sock . He races Sprint cars and those motors are worth $25k or more and never had any problems

I'm running a dry K&N cone filter and K&N filter sock on my K&N CAI , no issues whatsoever and feels like I picked up some hp according to my butt dyno

that is deffinately good info. considering the exspense of a full cai i thought perhaps try this first and put the rest into the purchase of the header. something to play with

Think of your motor being a air pump , the more air you can get into and out of you will make more hp . If you've got a supercharger and running a stock air box think of yourself breathing thru a straw , that's what your motor is doing . Same thing with exh , if you can't get the spent air out efficiently your losing hp

those are exactly my thoughts which it seems no one but the 2 of us believe you can free incoming air up all you want but if not the same on exhaust not much benefit. just thought i'd start here then move to exhaust which seems to ba a fairly easy upgrade

That's my next step is putting the Doug Thorley shorty header on and maybe re doing the exh to get the spent air out faster

I always enjoy fluffing up my Tacomas. I did both upgrades you guys mentioned to my last Two Tacos, and loved the better throttle response way too much, and there went my fuel mileage haha! This truck is staying stock.
