I apologize ahead of time for not finding a thread on this because there probably is one, so if someone could shoot me a link that would be great ( i'm sitting here as it's getting dark trying to get the axle in)
Anyway, I took out the old CV axle and I can't get the new want to go in. I've put nearly all my 170 pounds of weight on it but it won't go in.. I've tried angling it right, and turning it to trying get the splines to match up.. Maybe it is just the snap ring?

It's easier with two people. One to line up the splines, and the second to tap it in with a hammer. Tap on a pry bar that's pushed up agains the flanges on the new CV - don't tap on the end which would cause the CV joints themselves to conduct the force. That would be bad.

I know, I know, but I needed a half ton.
This may not be the best idea, but it worked for me.. I tapped the other end with a hammer until it went. Just don't screw up the threads

Ended up screwing the nut onto the end of the axle, and giving it a few good hits. It went in

Good method. I personally use a rubber mallet if the snap ring, when new, is being especially stubborn. That's usually where the axle gets hung up.
