I was trying to think of some alternative but couldn't come up with one, ended up getting one of the new mats from CVT. Only thing I could figure is airing the tent out really good but that's a pain sometimes. I get condensation around the poles inside, I'm gonna wrap them in pipe insulation and see if that helps, should extend the life of the fabric too.

Have you seen the tent mounting brackets from Front Runner? Maybe you're using them already but it would make things much easier. I have seen two styles. This one in the link
    http://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/front-runner-rack-tent-mount-kit.html

Sierra Expeditions sells another one that's a bit taller. Makes is much easier to get to the nuts. ;)

I have the lower ones. I was thinking of switching to the higher ones.

My front tray is mounted much like yours, one-piece construction. The rear tray sits on the taller feet, 60mm i think. The rtt sits in the rear, super easy to fit your hand underneath to get the bolts. The tall mount kit that adam mentioned may be your only option for ease.

Thanks man. I'm sad about that. Hoping to find an electric socket wrench that can fit in there.

it's $30 so don't know the quality but probably worth the try... just wouldn't use it to torque them down or break them lose... $.02

Well, you could always loosen every bolt then hop in your rig and floor it. Done.

    Tent model: Tepui Ayer

I'm an avid weekend explorer and as my truck is my only vehicle, it sees a lot of use. My tent is mounted to the cab by means of a prinsu rack. I bought the ayer because it leaves room on my rack for a fairing which I am currently designing. I only got my tent mounted this morning, and am psyched to take it out camping this weekend! Glad to finally join the club!
