Heaters

So I just bought a new 2010 Trd and the heater's not putting out the heat that I thought it would. I had an 08' 4cyl and it had a kickass heater in it. So im wondering if anyone else has this issue?

 

Did you un-push the A/C button?

 

I have the same issue. It takes a long time to warm up ( and I'm used to a diesel ). When it does warm up, my legs seem to be cold and heat comes out of the dash vents no matter what posision the knob is in. But it's not that bad. I can live with it.

 

TAco's heating system is ass. The air is hot, it's cabin coverage is weak.

 

Mine works great. Make sure your radiator is full.

 

Yeah, I don't know what you're talking about. Even when I have the blower off but the temp knob on hot it still comes in with a fury of a 10000 fires. If you leave it on outside air (non recirculating) and you're on the highway it blows pretty strong even then. It's blazin.

 

Seems the complaints are coming from folks up North while those reporting it's all good are (like me) in the South.

Just this weekend I noticed the "cold legs" syndrome... even with the selector set for blowing 100% air on my feet and the heat at 80% of full hot there really wasn't much warmth to speak of. However when I set the selector to blow at my face/torso it gets plenty hot after a few minutes of driving.

 

No complaints here. I let my truck run for a few minutes though before I leave the driveway.

 

A small piece of cardboard in front of the radiator works great to help heat the truck up a bit faster during the cooler winter weather. Spray paint the cardboard a dark color if you don't want anyone to notice. The heater in my 010 definitely doesn't heat up as fast as my Supercrew but once up to temps it works fine. K

 

My heater heats up fast compared to some other cars... I do think that it does not blow enough on the feet though.

 

yeah mine is the fastest heating heater I have ever had. LIke 2 minutes from startup and I get heat. Usually when it's cold here(50* )only move the temp knob to all hot and select foot/face and 95% of the time I don't even turn the blower on.
But this is SoCal , it's 70* all year lol.

Maybe the people having trouble need to check out the fan motor and/or the vent passages, maybe something got smashed/blocked/broken??? or go raise hell at a dealership.

 

just let ur truck warm up for 5 minutes and that will make a difference but i think these heaters are really good

 

You have to remember that if you have the tow package you have an engine oil cooler and it takes time to heat up the engine.

 

Yeah the coverage sucks, Windows in the rear fog up real easy!!

 

Oh yeah know the cardboard trick all to well, have the auto start too just takes wy to long to heat up. Like I said the 08' 4cyl had great heat, was only an access cab! Might have to take'er in.

Where are the rear seat heater ducts at anyways?

 

don't forget to check the cabin air filter, if dirty it will affect air flow cold or hot. does not apply to brand new tacos of course, sounds like something else is wrong

 

What happens if you crack a window?

I have noticed that the cabin is sealed up pretty tightly--I wonder if my body vent(s) are stuck shut. When I crack a window, heater output goes up a lot.

Too bad the vent(s) are between the bed and body...kind of hard to access from the outside, and I will have to pull the rear seat back on my access cab to look at it from the inside.

 

If I crack a window at 30 below zero its gonna get cold in there real quick!! But for circulation that is not a bad idea.
