These were already installed by the dealer and although I liked how they tucked up close to the body, they're not as easy to get in and out of the truck because they are so high. If you are considering this addition to your truck, you may wish to have ones that sit a little lower.

Those look aftermarket - the OEM ones are a bit lower. They don't look bad though.. How much did the stealership charge ya?

Like I said, the dealer installed them before putting it on the lot. Don't know how much they were individually as they were part of a package

I got the very same running boards. They sit way to high for me. The dealership charges $569 for the pair installed. My truck came with them or I would never had got them. Price sticker and picture are attached. I will sell them for $200 I'd i could find a local buyer.image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

The higher they are, the better protection against door dings.

That is true, but I have a terrible time getting into the truck and getting out is worse as the running board rubs against my leg. I'm 69 years old and not as flexible as I used to be.

YEA! mine are too high too! =I got ICON. They Look okay but pretty much useless. Giving some serious thought having 2"= 3" added to the brackets.

I thought about extending them down as well but if you look at the mounting brackets, I'm not sure how this could be done.

Perhaps, cut the brackets in half about half / mid way. Have a fab. shop wield the them back together, making them 2" maybe 3" longer. Thought I would do the R. side first. Spray them with a flat black or wrinkle paint.

I called the dealer to get the brand, in hopes of contacting the manufacturer. They are a Toyota supplied accessorie and apparently others have complained of the height.

Whoever came up with the hockey pucks as spacers had a good idea!
I brought 12, (around $25 delivered) doubled them up on each bracket, 10 longer bolts 2.75" (around $6 at ACE).
Cut the edge off of 6 at 22.5 degrees (22.5 (1/2 of 45) should be on your chop saw)cut edge fits against truck, tape 2 together, drill the holes, bolt them up. Rock solid!! Dropped boards 2". Not perfect but much, much better.

Dave, you're singing my song. The only way I can exit the truck without it rubbing left leg is to put right foot on running board, then step out. It apparently gives enough space to avoid the dreaded calf rub. I'm also 69 years.

The Steelcraft I have are high like that too. That hockey puck thing is genius, sounds like I've got a weekend project.

Doesn't take too long. Try to get the holes centered, might have to drill a size larger for it to fit easier / better. 2 pucks, =2" helps but another inch would be better. == keep us posted.

for an older person, those high running boards are terrible. During one of my attempts to get in the truck, I hurt my left knee. Required an MRI. Been on physical therapy for the last six weeks with a torn ligament and a damaged meniscus. Doctor says I need surgery to repair the problem. I was on crutches for a while and then a cane. Still in PT. trying to avoid surgery.

I removed those high sitting running boards and sold them. I then had problems getting in the truck. The truck sits so high that for me I need a way to get up in the cab. My truck was an SR with the red indicator needles in the dash cluster. I had trouble seeing the red indicators.

I have since traded my white SR for a silver sky SR5 with the white indicators and the OEM aluminum predator side steps. The side steps sit about 6" lower than the running boards. Also, there is a cut out so I can step out without the back of my leg dragging on the running board.

There is a price to be happy with a purchase, and I gladly paid the price. My SR only had 1,400 miles on it. Lost about $6K on the trade for the SR5.image.jpg

I cut my brackets in half, welded 3" channel extensions, sandblast, and paint. Now they are a natural stepimage.jpg

Wish I was a welder! A local shop wants $200 to do the same thing. I did the hockey puck and got a 2" drop (2 pucks per bracket), it helped but still not low enough.
