My dealership just refused to check my fluid. They made a note of my complaints in the system (they're on the printout I got and on the app) but told me Toyota wouldn't pay for them to scan the computer to check it

First off, a scan on the computer is not how they should be checking it. It needs to be physically checked.
Secondly, I would imagine Toyota would rather pay an hour diagnostic time to check it than have to replace a whole transmission on a truck that is less than a year old.
Preventative maintenance cost less than replacement of a tranny.
If you had a complaint and all they did is make a note of it, I would find another dealer, that is not good business. The whole idea of having warranty and having a service center is to check/resolve customer complaints.

No, I just know people are lazy or do things half behind. I want to be able to show them the proof that they didnt do something when they try to tell me they did.

You can't just drive up to a stealership and ask them to check your transmission level if it takes more than a few minutes of their time to check it. That is the case with most modern auto trans now a days.
Time is money, I'm sure you can understand that.
If however you're experiencing a drive-ability concern, and ask them if it could be low on fluid, they might be more inclined and will prob do so just to ease your mind b/c it's something they can get reimbursed by the manufacturer.
    Cheers!

I didn't. I was having my 5k mile service done at the time and explained that it was slipping coming out of park and reverse and that I had heard of others having low fluid. They documented my concern but still refused, stated their "Tacoma guy" said not to worry about it

Based on my dealership experiences, three cameras may not be enough. Also should bring a Polygraph machine

I'm assuming corporate doesn't care considering the issue of low tranny fluid has been a problem for years and Toyota refuses to fix the issue. If it were me I'd be attacking the issue from there.

I'm not even convinced the low transmission fluid is the problem anymore. Too many people have reported problems with the transmission even after fluid being filled. Those who have noted improvements, I have a hunch, are experiencing good ol' Placebo.

We'll know for sure after the warranty expires.

Ok, go out to your truck and drain 1-2 qts of fluid out of your transmission and drive around like that.

Most of the low fluid reports coming in are only 3/4 to 1/2 quart low but certainly not 2 quarts.

I am not 100 percent certain, but I believe once its found to be low and topped off, the computer needs to be reset to relearn shift patterns with the proper amount of fluid. So yes, I can see how it feels different.

People are claiming it feels different and then not even resetting the ECM...again I think Placebo playing a large role here.

I have owned multiple Toyota vehicles, the two I currently own do not have a dipstick, and I owned three with dipstick.
Non of them has ever had any transmission issues.
My last trade for this '16 Tacoma, was a 13 yrs old 4R 4.0 L with almost 200k miles on the clock and i never even bothered to check the transmission level, and I never even changed it lolo!.
It was/is a great running truck. Only issue I ever had was the clock/temp/ trip computer bulbs burning out on it, about 10 minutes work to change. And the driver's side signal light bulb that would come loose every six months to a year.
I'm baffled by all these serious issued ppl are having here, and by Toyota mid truck sales increasing of 11.9% for '16 with all these issues? :/
