Oh man how can you! he acts like a child, bitches at his teammates, and give up on plays.. let alone loves the "roll on the floor and fake the injured cry act"... the little "midget" is a little engine that could. and never if ever has been about the crying and acting theatrics unless being maliciously attacked in many games. I feel like the only thing I can say good about cr7 is he can on a decent amount of occasions make insane contact with the ball doing awesome things. Still would rather take Batistuta in his day, and can not say that for many players with leo.

Comparing messi to CR7 is like comparing apples to oranges. First off, they don't even play the same position, or at least are not supposed to. CR7 is a winger and messi is more of a forward/striker. So that's the first thing. The second thing is, CR7 had to work hard to get to where he is. He has half the trophies messi has, and MIGHT be worth less, because messi has been on a STACKED team from the beginning of his career. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, but there is more value to me in working up to where and who you are, than being in a higher place from the get go.

And then, to compare them to older generations is ludicrous. It's doing those older generations a disservice. It's basically telling them that they were not great in their own right and era. Can't compare modern football and technology to the rawness that the sport was when they played. To me, those older generations are the great players of the sport. People like Pele, Eusebio, Puskas, all those dudes... they are the GREAT ones.

Yes, messi is a good player. There is no denying that. But to say CR7 sucks, well... then you don't watch the same sport I do. Period.

I grew up watching the Chicago Bulls and saw most of that 72-10 run on the WGN network. I really dislike the fact they're making such a big deal of which team would win . . . The current Warriors or the 95/96 Bulls? Such a dumb and pointless comparison. Modern NBA now is completely different to what was played in the past. Same goes for modern day football. . . Just sit back and enjoy the beautiful game.

There are some amazing players I much rather watch than Messi. I just can't stand Barcelona and lets be real, the whole team. . .

Just caught the last part of the second half. Looks like America deserved to win.

 

What leagues does everyone follow? Curious to see what type of demographic we have here based on the recent postings.

And if no one is offended or minds disclosing this, what ethnicity is everyone? Meaning, are you an immigrant, son of immigrants, etc.

I'll go first I guess since I'm the one asking the questions.
I'm Portuguese, born there and moved here when I was 12. Am 34 now.
Obviously I follow the Portuguese league and my team is Sporting Clube De Portugal. I am also a paying supporter (if that make sense to everyone here and knows what that is since I don't think it's something American clubs have/offer).
I also follow La Liga, Serie A and the EPL mainly/closely. But will watch just about any soccer that's on TV regardless of what country/league it is.
For La Liga I support Real Madrid because of my countrymen that play there, Seria A I support Juve because I fell in love with the way they played when Nedved and Del Piero were there, and EPL I don't support any specific team but try to follow any Portuguese players on any team.

 

I just turned 30 this month, I was born here in NY, my Father is from Argentina. I lived there for some years growing up as well I travel there yearly. My mother is a natural born citizen, however her mother came here from Spain and her father came here from Ecuador.

I love River Plate and I love the Argentine national team. I am blind as a bat and as proud as can be... I scream when they win and I cry when they do not win. Luckily I have seen both my favorite teams many many many times live both here in the states as well as in Argentina respectably.

I despise Boca Junior, I can not stand cr7, Maradona > pele

On a side note, Sagres in by far my all time favorite beer and I love Portuguese food, my dad and I get lunch at a local Portuguese place just about every day. (we work together).

Great post Nuno, I was thinking this same thing yesterday. I love the passion from this sport, something I do not feel we have in this country as a rival, unless you want to taker the religion firearm ect. approach lol But with all the good comes a lot of bad, there is a serious problem with breeding racism and hatred within sports, it is really felt in some other countries, argentine for one being as guilty as they come..

Nobody should ever be hurt or worse killed over a sport.

Though I am all about this new trend of retiring into the mls... having cr7 here state side would be great for the usa soccer scene.

As far as comparing apples and oranges though... I do feel it is our duty as fans to do exactly that. Reality is even the dudes on the bench who never touch a ball outside of practice, are really really effin great soccer players.

Aside from not ever ever liking cr7 just because I can not, I really can not stand his attitude, ever, unless he puts one in the back of the net he is a sour puss. Ok yea he is a great pro athlete, but is a shitty role model i truly feel. I really do not like the fake acts of rolling around that goes in world wide in this sport, although i do understand it is a part of how the game is played and the way the current rules are.

 

LOL. The rolling around on the ground is a Portuguese thing. Trust me on that. And I get why he's the way he is. He worked hard to get to where he is, and having won player of the year a few times already he expects to always do well. I get it, it's a competitiveness thing. I think it's good for him that he's that way. I think it makes him keep striving to be the best or better.

When he's not on the field he's actually not a bad person or bad role model at all. He's actually a really good dude and does a lot for the Portuguese island he's from, and all over the world.

 

I'm 30, born here in the Central Valley of California. My dad was from Mexico, and my mom was born here also.

I support juventus, since I was in high school, and I too watched nedved, deal Piero and Davids because I too wore glasses and thought he looked cool.

BPL I'm a red. Since watching a documentary on them way back when, I loved the history of the club. The time we almost won it a few years back was heartbreaking, especially since gerrard was on his way out.

I watch mls when it's on and generally follow Galaxy, sounders or Orlando city. But I like seeing all the legends from Europe in the league. Wish it was closer to watch more games, my sister lives in LA and used to have Galaxy season tickets, but not anymore.

Nationally I support the US and Italy, I'm not Italian but i guess supporting juve drew me towards them.

Oh and la liga, I support real, although I'm happy for Suarez for doing good at Barcelona after leaving us, a little part of me wanted him to fail because he left.

 

Messi fan over here, Been to Barcelona a few times, including January 30th when they played Atletico Madrid this year. I have tickets for the Campion's final in Torino but my team wasn't gone be there.
By the way I have two tickets for sale. They are 1st class tribune above the teams smacked in the middle 4th row, and goes for $2,800.00, each my price.

Been a United Supporter since my father was (1996/97) but he has since jumped ship to Bayern. I started following them because my Father was a huge fan and they had the same colors as my Chicago Bulls.

I've been to Manchester, UK twice and watched a game at Old Trafford (VS PORTSMOUTH) . I was also there in Manchester when they played Barcelona in the UEFA Finals. Watched it at the Boars Head Pub to a disappointment 0-2 lose. Thats when I just simply hated Barcelona. . .I respect them, but Hate them.

I support and watch every Man United game. . . I've been able to ride the teams up and down through the years. . .How I miss SAF.

Favorite Player = Rooney . . . Yes, he is no longer the same but that's how you test and know a true fan. I've supported/watched him since he was a young lad destroying the pitch.
