Can Certain Parts of the Toyota Care Warranty Be Voided and Not Others?

Why would a dealer void a warranty due to mods even if they are the cause of it? The dealer is not paying for the warrantied repairs. They do the repair turn it into Toyota and get paid for the work. They make the money, they keep their customers happy.

 

I believe there is a TSB bulletin on that part in the US. You voided nothing.

Bring the TSB, the Magnuson Act, show them to him, tell him to fix it, or his life is gonna get really shitty, real quick.

P.S. BTW, I couldn't be bothered with the dealership anyway. I have a bumper to bumper 160K/7 year warranty and don't use it 'cause the goofs at my dealership couldn't find their arssholes with a map and a flashlight. I just do everything myself. I'm saving the warranty in case of the 'big one'. I picked up an ECGS needle bearing/bushing kit and puller off of here as back up anyway - $100.

 

Oh....stay tuned. I am about to call them out. they admitted the part was faulty. Talking to ToyTec in a couple minutes to get their official stance on this...in writing. they swear by their stuff and have been awesome to me. I want as much info as possible before I go back in...They acted like it was a done deal till they found out I didn't purchase it there and did my own install.

 

Sure. But what I'm saying is, you can't email Toyota and say fix my truck per the MMA and expect them to fix it.

Unless you're hitting them with a lawsuit for warranty denial without proof, so far as I have read, you're pissing in the wind.

 

There is a slight problem with that statement. If a dealership performs a repair, and then turns the paperwork in to the manufacturer, the manufacturer has the opportunity to review the repair, and if there is ANYTHING wrong with the paperwork, or the part numbers, they can deny the claim, and the dealership DOESN'T get paid. They lose money on the deal. That is why you will see many times a service tech write a dang BOOK on their write-up for the repair. The more you have documented, the better your chances of it not getting rejected.

 

It benefits everyone on the forum to see how this all plays out IF you claim MMA.

I haven't been denied service, but lots of others have.

 

You don't email Toyota and say "fix my truck per MMA". What the process would be is filing a lawsuit against Toyota and taking it to court. (Yeah, in a case of a needle bearing it isn't worth the work, but in many other cases I have seen, it comes out in the end.)

 

I showed them the TSB and they acknowledged that...knew it was a faulty part. it all changed when the lift came in the conversation. :[

 

That's my point.

I don't think many grasp that the MMA only comes into place during lawsuit and that most are not going to invest in that pursuit over minor things.

Lots of people say MMA, few say MMA lawsuit.

I don't think people know how it works.

 

I certainly don't. I am super glad there are people out there like you guys and possibly gals that help a person like me figure some things out. My local dealership are acting like D-Bags. Just spent a ton of money on a Toyota Certified Truck and some BA mods. did all my due diligence to make sure I was NOT ruining my warranty for ANY reason and then this BS happens. Funny part is I just got an automated email from them thanking me for my business. WOW.

 

It sucks for sure.

I would try another dealership also and see if you fare better elsewhere. That's worked for many.

Well, that's just facked. Your local dealer will put on a crappy spacer lift that kicks the shite of the front suspension, but will reject a warranty claim on a part that is not even directly linked to a legit engineered lift.

How about trying a different dealer?

BTW, my truck has a full Icon suspension lift, the only one around here with a real non-spacer lift. My dealer tech (the one smart one in the herd) drools over it, the rest are afraid of it. The service manager is a complete dink, but acknowledges the fact that the truck meets warranty because of the quality of the components as per the advice of the tech. And if the parts manager sustained a brain cell injury, the remaining brain cell would be awfully lonely.

 

Yeah I second trying another dealership before battling it out with this one, could be a lot less of a headache if another one is willing to go ahead and do it. Just omit the part about having installed your own lift if they don't ask.

well mine is the ToyTec Boss kit.....my understanding is it is a performance mod and that is a qualified lift for NON VOIDING WARRANTY BS.

 

I would simply go in to a different dealership, tell them the problem you are having, mention the TSB about it, and leave the ball in their court.
