If you are looking to reservoir fish you need to make sure it's at least an 11ft kayak. Anything under that, you won't be able to get it approved.

The Ascend FS128T is a fantastic fishing kayak.

Just ordered two 12 footers from bass pro for my wife and I. FS12T is the model number. Sit on top fishing kayaks with some cool features and great reviews. $600 a piece too, so it was a lot easier to justify than two hobies at 2 grand a piece.

Edit: the ones I'm referring to are 8" shorter than the 128 Steve is referring to. 128 is almost an identical boat to the 12. You just get the extra 8 inches, a swiveling seat, and some extra storage with the 128. Both great options.

A swivel seat would be rad. Or you can go big like I did and get the Cadillac of the kayak world. Classic Accessories Colorado.

Yeah, the new 128s have a lever on the side, similar to an office chair height adjustment. Pull the lever, and you can spin 180 degrees to your cooler, or whatever you have stored in the rear

With the ascend you can stand up to fish on it as well which is a major bonus to me.

Yes! I may even keep the paddle to my paddle board strapped to it so I can stand-up paddle around the shallows.

A rust free chevy 4x4 short bed truck from out west. It was in Silver Spring, Md. Needed a motor but it looked nice in the pics. Undercarriage was clean also. $2000 obo. I figured it would sell fast.

Nice. Mine was rust free too, lived its life in the west until he moved to the east and then sold it, Military dude. Mine was a long bed, loved that truck.

That's why i chose my Pelican. Swivel seats and you can stand up and fish. I just gotta get the damn thing out on a lake. I've been modifying my new aluminum TracRac to haul my boat while towing my camper.

That would probably be a long bed problem also.

I bought a aluminum TracRac to haul my plastic boat. I'm modifying it now because when its mounted on the truck its like 8 inches taller than my cab roof. Not only does it look stupid that high but it would make loading & unloading my boat more of a pita. And my truck wouldn't fit thru the garage door. So i cut down the legs and re-tapped new threads so it can be bolted back together using the factory hardware.

Are snugtops really worth the extra cost?

Talked to the leer dealer today he said snugtops are a West coast thing... But they aren't that much more than the leer I was looking at. Wonder if I can find a dealer.

He said the warranty is NOT transferrable so if that is the case looks like it'll be another thing I have to save up for New cause I don't want to drop 600-800 and have it last a few years and crack

Do it right once instead of doing it half ass and having to do it again if something goes wrong.
