    To check the operation:

With the key in the ON position, engine off, you press the RR DIFF LOCK button, you should be able to hear both the relay click and the electric motor on the diff. The diff lock light does not come on until the diff is locked. So you may have to roll forward a little to lock it. It does not flash and beep when the button is pressed and diff not locked. But, if you can hear the locker motor run you know the mod is working.

Before correcting the connections on the relay, I would hear the relay click, but not the elect. motor on the diff.

Before completing this mod, my light would flash and beep until the lock actually engaged. Now I see and hear nothing until it is completely locked.

Thanks. I sat there for about 1 hour yesterday looking at the pdf and comparing it to the relay package.

I am just glad nothing broke when we originally hooked it up incorrectly. Someone should update that PDF to add this relay.

Yeah. I'll see if I can edit it later when I get back.

rmb we can do something another weekend whenever you're not busy. My mom will be much more excited about going if she sees Ava. Of course though there's no obligation to bring her.

Hey guys check it out. Look at the cheap/free mods thread. You can find it in the mods and tutorials v. I wrote piercedtiger(the god of the cheap/free mods thread, one of the best threads known to man imo) and he edited it to let the people with the radioshack relay know that there's a difference in the config.

Reviving this thread as testmony that I did search first. Same problem that JLC had, 2008 no lights, no movement in the relay, and don't hear the locker motor at all. I am using the 275-217 relay which is 125vac as recomended in the intial write-up. Will this actually work with 12v dc or do I need to get the 275-218 part?

I think you need a DC relay.

I have not tried the AC, but I don't think it would work.

I don't know why either. You should be able to return the other one. Radioshack seems to be pretty good about that.

Was there an issue with the relay mod throwing a CEL when doing this? Or was that if you spliced it in? The whole reason I haven't done this mod is cause I really don't want to throw a CEL and have the vehicle get pissy with me.

No CEL for me. The locker just couldn't be activated in anything before db67 told me it's different for the relay we had.
