This. Your lift shouldn't have anything to do with your issue, and if you go to a dealership that's cool about it and knows/honors that, you'll be good to go.

What about installing a mild 2" lift on a leased Tacoma? Any ideas?

Are you planning on keeping it after your lease is up? If not, I wouldn't or you'll have to be prepared to return it back to stock when your lease is up.

Also, I'm not sure if there's anything in your leasing contract that prohibits mods...might want to check on that

Toyota sells a 2" lift they have to cover vehicles lifted to that height. But once you go over the height of a trd pro they have a better chance of saying no. Still doesn't mean it's right, but some will try.

In my opinion; Magnuson Moss Warranty Act falls by the wayside when the suspension angles are changed from the factory specifications. What the act provides is that you can use aftermarket parts that meet the manufacturers specification and not void the warranty. When you replace parts that are different from the design specification they do not have to warranty repair damage caused by that modification. It is a risk You Accept when you modify. That is not a BS way to get around anything. I would also deny a warranty to a mod induced damage.

They cannot however void the entire warranty, they can deny repairs for specific cause as above.

Toyota has issued a TSB admitting the needle bearing is a piece of crap. Based on that they can't prove the lift caused it so can't deny that specific repair, no? Or is using logic and Toyota in the same thought the problem????? The lift may have amplified the issue but based on the TSB didn't cause it. Reasonable doubt????? I wonder if there has been an MMA lawsuit for this specific issue?

Mine started groaning about 50 miles post-lift. I'm really interested in what my dealer is going to say. I'm traveling for work like crazy but am going to try to get it in in a couple of weeks.

Seriously, couldn't the dealer play "six degrees of Kevin Bacon" and tie a number of denied warranty claims to your lift? To me, it's a douche knuckle move to deny a warranty repair for an documented shitty part......

Just as those that try and get it served the other way around.... like getting something working outside of its design parameters covered under a warranty.

If you want to admit it or not a lift does in fact increase the strain placed on the axle assemblies and suspension.

    stay tuned. :]
Ok...new day....new report. I took several peoples advice and took my truck to another dealer. walked in, told them my dilemma, shared my knowledge of the TSB....long story short, "We will take care of that for you" WTH????? No whining. The guy was completely honest about the situation though...."we are going to put the same Toyota part back in, it will more than likely fail eventually. No way to tell how long". They even offered to put the ECGS part in for a fee $580...they couldn't honor the warranty of Toyota and put an aftermarket product in. I am kinda stunned right now...in a good way.

so question, anyone with experience in putting the new needle bearing in and how long it has lasted?

You'll have a hard time finding long term feedback on a brand new needle bearing.

Glad it's getting taken care of.
