It certainly spoils us. One cool thing about flying this plane is having the chance to do training in Savannah. That is just a cool place to go visit and walk around.

I would like to see a F-4 fly sometime. I missed out on that a few years ago when they had some in Colorado Springs at the airshow.

Found Gremlins Delight this afternoon, a B24 that crashed in 1943 after a dual engine failure near Fairbanks, AK.

I'm sure there's an exact location filed somewhere but we only had a vague description of the area it was in to look. If you look it up on Google you can find some cool post crash photos, the pilot bellied it in pretty well and all 14 people on board survived. The Air Force tried to reproduce the conditions leading to the crash later and crashed a second B24 in the area, killing seven.

Too many early mornings out east. My reward today though is a long layover in Comox on the east side of Vancouver Island. From the flight in this morning...

And after a nap, a walk down to the Courtney air park where I see this parked on the river

Looks like they're getting ready to crane a Turbo Otter into the water. I'll try to get a couple of pictures. Winds picking up though, so they might have to wait awhile.

... ^^^ ... Nice ... I remember flying with a buddy (bush pilot from Seattle) in late 70's or early 80's and landing on the water in Vancouver and that floating Esso station.

Exact times & cities escape me ... but I think that was in Vancouver. I love that city and the island too ... and Whistler was just catching on in the late 70s ... should have bought land there.

Yeah, sounds like Coal Harbour. Use to bid Victoria overnights so I could ride back and forth from Vancouver with a buddy who flew for Harbour Air. He's working airline with me now though, so those days are over. Still, there's lots of nice patios along the inner harbour in Victoria to sit and have a beer and some good seafood while watching the float planes come and go.

    ... ^^^ ... Thanks and I loved that area.

I lived part time and worked out of the Montreal & Hull area back then and had to travel all over (but not as much in Canada) and I always loved going to the west coast. All of the shared special projects to DoD's in Canada & USA had to go through CCC (Canadian Crown Corp.) to guarantee the bids (reason for Montreal & Hull). Two of my buddies were pilots in Canadian Air Force and had some good contacts with the bush pilots on the west coast (Calgary, Edmonton & Vancouver areas).

Vancouver was the 180 degrees opposite of Montreal back then.

I liked both cities for different reasons ... I could live in Vancouver ... but not in Montreal (too cold and cars rusted very fast).

Gotta love short skirt season in Montreal though. But yoga pant season lasts all year long in Vancouver and the lower part of the island.
