Really? Im like in a hurry to get a frontier before those Nissan Muranos with a bed replace the current frontier. I doubt those navaras will do well in the states, they look way to much like a crossover to compete with the truck market. I do like how they have a multi link suspension though.

Any issues you have will be at or close to the onset of purchase. This means any issues you have will be covered by warranty. Do you want a Nissan in the long term or Toyota? Regardless of the growing pains our 3rd gens are going though, they will be resolved and this truck will continue to be one of the most reliable trucks on the road. Resale will still continue to be high on these trucks regardless of generation and Toyotas will always trump Nissans.

I prefer the styling to the current Tacoma and GM's. The coil sprung rear axle and modern interior will be really nice. Nissan never disappoints with their V6 power plant either so it should be very interesting. But, I'll be hanging onto my D40 for a long time yet.

    None... sigh
I have a good friend with a 14 Frontier LE, nice but no room in the back seat, seriously less than in the Tacoma. He is very envious of my Tacoma. Also the reason I traded a PRO4X Xterra for a SR5 4Runner was room in the back for passengers. Cargo area was great, all plastic so it cleaned easy just scratched easily too.

Higher curb weight and smaller motor of 3rd gen resulting in insignificant fuel economy increase has been a huge disappointment to me. Syncros was right about that. Driving experience has failed to.improve with 10k on odometer now. I kept thinking it would get better. Interior tech is nice

Only complaint I had with my frontier was the turning radius sucked ass. Could not make u-turn or almost any turn without having to back up. Not sure if that's the case still with the recent models. Other than that, it never gave me any serious problems.

Yeah i definitely noticed that on the specs but to be honest i can count on my fingers how often i have passengers in the back but just want the crew cab in order to have the option if needed without trying to cram anyone in the back of regular cab.
I think thats the case with all nissans, my parents had an altima and that thing had the turning radius of a bix truck
Unfortunately i wont be able to have that problem. Id love a dclb but no love for stick shifts with them.

For the hell of it I checked the kbb trade value if a 2011 pro4x vs a trd sport with 50k miles and when you take into account that the taco is a 2-3k more than the frontier the trade in values seem very relative to each other. The taco definitely comes out a little higher but not by as much as you'd think when you take into account the initial cost. The difference in trade value between the two is only 3k.

Actually i compared it to a TRD sport. On KBB it lists the TRD trucks as packages added to the base but lists the pro4x as a separate truck but if you click that link and click edit options you'll see that was for a TRD sport, both the sport and off road have the same value on KBB.

OK you are right. But I don't take KBB trade in as the bible. Many times I was offered far below KBB trade-in values on vehicles.

Yea its definitely not the end all say all. Its just a reference point. I actually used kbb successfully to get a higher trade value for my sister when they were low balling her on her trade so kbb can be useful in trade negotiations. I just found it surprising that the pro4x and trds have very relative trade value on kbb since everyone that gets a taco talks about the trade value being substantially better than other brands when really it seems that trucks in general just have a really high trade and resale value.

I think in real world, the trade in values on the Frontiers are much lower than what KBB's website quotes. The Frontier has never been kown for getting stellar trade-in values, so there's that..

I do like the Pro4X, but like I said, it feels really dated nowadays. 8 years ago, it would have been a good buy.

Well typically kbb numbers are based on real world deal that have taken place. Thats how they figure the numbers out. They dont typically just make them up out of thin air. I mean you can say what ever you'd like about trade values also and it doesnt make it true, just grab the auto trader app and do some research, the taco really isnt all that special when it comes to trade value, hell a dodge with a cummins and 100k miles on it has better resale value than both the taco or frontier.

Three months ago id agree that the pro4x is not appealing because of how dated it is. Now however im realizing you're better off buying a dated truck than a first year truck. I wish i bought a 2nd gen Tacoma, if I could find a brand new 2015 TRD stick shift double cab in black id buy it over a 2016 all day long.

Sorry, but I respectfully disagree with you. We don't need to argue semantics, but go research top resale value vehicles, and you'll see the Tacoma is pretty legendary.

You're 100% correct. In articles and word of mouth and awards the Tacoma always comes out on top. But when you look at real world things like prices that both are selling for you will see the Tacoma may be ahead of the frontier, never argued that but its really not by very much. Yesterday i would have agreed with you that the taco is "legendary" for resale value simply because thats what everyone has always said. Then today i decided to do some research of my own and while it may come out on top its really not by much. A vehicle can have a $1 more resale value than another and the manufacturer can say they have the highest resale value and they are, but only by a dollar. Dont get caught up in articles and advertising and just look at what things sell for, you'd be surprised.

That was my next point. Go look at how much tacomas sell for used and it will blow your mind.

I wanted a face-lift 2nd Gen dcsb trd sport 2wd, and everything I found with 50k miles was asking and selling for around 30k. They were 34k new!
