    Hellllllllo fellow Stick Shift owners!

Finally checking into this thread that I've been watching ever since nevadabugle started it!

It took me 261 days since placing my order last August to get my manual Access Cab 6cyl Tacoma!! SO CRAZY. Picked it up last week, have almost 2,750 miles on it already, and got a build thread started here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bigmike’s-big-journey-new-2016-tacoma.427850/
Flew to Texas to pick it up from the 9th dealer I placed an order with, drove over to the factory where it was built, and then drove home to California.

Love the new transmission and engine. Manual transmission all the way!!

I'll check in from time to time to post updates here. We'll be making our extremely popular HD Clutch Kit and Short Throw Shifter Kit for the RC62F, just have many more things to get done first! :D

    Regards from Marlin Crawler,
    BigMike

I love my manual, totally worth the almost two month wait. The only thing can say even remotely negative about it is there is ALOT of peddle in the clutch and it engages almost to the floor. But the shifts are the smoothest I've felt in a truck and even some sports sedans. Worth the wait and you'll thank yourself when it comes to maintaince time. $$$

Agreed. I got back in our Outback and thought something was wrong with the clutch. The difference in pedal travel is dramatic.

This is expected behavior of a low mileage clutch. As a clutch is used, the thickness of the disc reduces and the height differential of the friction surface to pressure-plate mount increases resulting in reduced clutch effectiveness and a disengagement point higher up on the swing of the clutch pedal. The very sign of a fresh clutch would be an engagement very low to the floor (assuming the flywheel was resurfaced to within factory specs or Marlin's improved specs [see our "Exclusive tips" https://www.marlincrawler.com/tech/guide/clutch-kit-install-instructions]).

The closer to the floor the engagement point is, the higher number of miles one will be able to extract from the clutch

Definitely agree. I am very impressed with how well 1st gear engages while rolling despite being too low a ratio for a 6cyl truck. The updated dual synchro design is really paying off big dividends here.

    Regards,
    BigMike

Avg wait time to get a manual is 12 to 14 weeks. some have waited 4-6 months for certain options.
    LOL
Most are waiting 2-3 months to get a manual 4-6 if you asked for certain otions like long bed etc. Mine was just made yesterday and I've been trying to get one since Feb. I was lucky I found a dealer who was willing to change an existing order to my specs so the wait was only a month and a half.No not only are they not apologetic it's hard to get them below or at invoice. in California they are getting full MSRP or better.

I've been going crazy waiting for the new manual sport to arrive. This morning driving to work in my 2011 4cl manual I realized I'm gonna miss the old one. The 5 speed gear box is worn in perfectly and is the easiest shifting vehicle I have ever owned. Won't miss the lack of horse power but she had her charms. Reg cab 4x4 was very maneuverable in tight spaces and awesome in the snow.

Did the MY16 manual transmission configurations lose a cup holder?

    I currently have 9 in MY13.

Not that I am aware. I have 12 if you include two on each door. There are two cup holders in the front on the center console and two in the rear portion of the center console

I lucked out. My wife prefers the MT. She was sad she could not get on on her RAV4

I was lucky too. My wife insisted that I buy a 4 door v6 (after 20 s0me years with various 4bangers). I insisted we buy a manual. We both got what we wanted.

The new 6-speed transmission will without question shift better than your W59. While you have a point about a nicely worn in unit vs. brand new, I have no doubt you'll be happy with the shifting performance of the new RC62F. Curious to hear your comparison once you get it!

How many of you guys had a manual 4.0 2nd gen and switched over to a manual 3.5 3rd gen and what is your opinion between the two.
I test drove a 16 trd sport MT and was not as impressed with the power as some of you. I didn't feel a increase in power at 3.2-3.5k like some of you have mentioned. Granted it wasn't easy to get on her with the salesman in the back and 35 speed limit. I need to upgrade to a double cab with the arrival of our first baby and I'm afraid Im going miss my 2010 sport MT which Is fun as hell to drive even with 285 tires. The difference in power was realized when I pulled out with my old truck and left a nice patch in front of the dealer. With more time driving the 16 I think it would improve my opinion. I found the 2016 truck I want but its 260 miles away and can't decide if I should go for it or stick with a newer 2nd gen. :annoyed:

You have to push the pedal a bit at 3500. If you did not feel that increase thenot you weren't in the throttle enough.
