Locker mod problem

    Hey guys, I know this is an old post, but I wanted to ask for some input.
    I have done this mod on my 07 and had no troubles for about 2yrs. now all of a sudden my locker won't engage at all. the indicator light on the dash doesn't come on at all, but I can hear my relay clicking.
    Had it in at Toyota for a service and mentioned that my locker wasn't working and they called me out on the modification... said they would have to charge me 80 bucks to rewire it back to stock then troubleshoot it. Any ideas, maybe bad contacts on the relay??

    is your 4WD and 4Lo still working propper? i'd get a new relay and try it before you have the dealership go after it...even though it's still clicking...it may be bad. if 4WD is still working, your computer should be OK...maybe a bad actuator (locker motor)? take the actuator off and have the dealership test it for you? anyone know if there is a dedicated fuse/relay for the e-locker actuator? might be simple as something like that.

    I would replace the relay. It's cheap and if it doesn't work you can always return it to Radio Shack. Also I would check fuses. Just be aware it may reset your trip odometer if you pull out one of the fuses so if you care about it then right it down. I wish I could be of more help but I really don't know much about the electrical stuff.

    Hey guys thanks for the input. I did replace the relay and that did not SEEM to fix it right off. I began searching wiring diagrams and checking voltage and continuity and after way too much of that I decided to attempt the removal and inspection of the actuator. I removed the tiny little "skid plate" back there and removed the wiring connectors and one more time for good measure checked to see if voltage was present when I engaged the locker switch. There was so I dis-engaged the switch and (with the rear just barely off the ground) re-connected the wiring harness, grabbed a rubber mallet and "tapped" on the actuator. Then I tried it one more time. Engaged the switch and began to slightly rotate one of the tires and CLICK!!! the locker immediately engaged.

    Don't kow if it was truely the relay, reconnection of the wires at the rear (I put some dielectrical grease on those connectors while I had them off), or the hammer method, but it is working again.

    I don't know which one is the F12 but in that photo if you are planning on doing the locker mod you'll have to remove the 10mm bolt in the center of the glove box catch and pull that piece of plastic off to get to the plugs on the 4WD ECU. I did this mod myself last weekend and wired a factory toyota switch into the power lead as a safety. It works great. Well once I figured out I had to drive about 10 feet to get it to engage. Before it would do it sitting still.

    I am currently doing the mod on 2011. Not sure if the wiring scheme is the same colors as previous. Anyone else run into this? I will update as I go.
