Went out in the morning and saw my tailgate missing. Took a closer look and saw my wiring to my back-up camera was cut. Yeap, some a-hole stole my tailgate. I did the hose clamp mod too! I was so pissed.

I think they did. Maybe they tried to take it, couldn't get it off because of the hose clamp, then came back another night with a tool to take it off.

    That sucks.

For those of you residing in apartments or similar (or at work, etc...), back up your truck close to a wall/fence whenever possible.

This is exactly what I do. I live in the "hood" where cars get broken into daily and I back my truck up against the wall as close as I can. The first thing I got for my truck was a locking gas cap and an aftermarket alarm.

There are a lot of good people out there but there's also some scumbags.

I think having the tailgate locked and the hose clamp would prevent the theft...making it hard enough to not take it,....but if they really want it, they'll get it...

And why the good lord invented Insurance.

I'm not paying 35 bucks for something that cost 5 dollars to make.

Wow. Is it rough where you live? That kind of shit rarely, if ever happens here. How is it that nobody saw someone frantically ripping a tailgate off a truck that clearly wasn't theirs and throwing it in their vehicle, followed by a big getaway? I know if I saw that I'd be yelling, chasing them, and getting their license plate, even if it wasn't my truck. I've even heard of people taking a reciprocating saw to cat converters in some parts down there. Again, how the fuck does nobody see or say anything to these people...

People are ass holes, you can only do so much to protect yourself from them. Hopefully your insurance will take good care of you.
