    That is exactly what it is, a deterrent. If a thief is going to steal something, nothing is going to get in his way, it is only a matter of time. This other lock is also only a deterrent. It might take a little longer than a hose clamp, but if a thief wants to tailgate, he is going to get the tailgate. This specific truck might be in a parking lot that the thief had enough time to deal with the hose clamp. It is the same with any type of car alarm or anti-theft device. If a thief wants it he's going to be able to steal the car no matter what car alarm might be on there, no matter how much it cost. Even LoJack is not foolproof.

    Well, I just ordered one. I had no deterrent on mine and this looks much nicer than the Gatekeeper.

    I had the tail lights on my gen 1 stolen while it was parked in my driveway, so I really don't want to leave the tailgate on my new truck so easy to walk away with.
