I just bought a camper shell for my 05 tacoma, and there is a wire with a plug on it for the brake light. I can't figure out where to plug it in. I pulled the brake light out on both sides of the truck and didn't see a plug in. Anybody know where this wire plugs in? Thanks.

Can you post a picture of the plug you have?

Strange. I don't think there's a 2-pin female anywhere for that, at least on my year. You might have to parallel it off the brake wiring yourself. :( Have you tried taking your tail light assembly out? There could be a harness hanging off the wiring for it.

Yea, I took off my brake lights the other day, but I didn't see anywhere to plug this in. 8 may have overlooked it, but I don't think so. Anyway, thanks for answering silence. I'll keep looking. :D

No problem. Best of luck. A few guys on here have shells, maybe they can lend a hand as to what they did.

Yea I found a great step by step write up on it on tacoma world. It looks fairly easy, but I'm not very confident in wiring things as I have fried some things before lol! Thanks again! Gotta get to work.:)

I'm a red seal journeyman electrician, if I were near you I'd do it up for an ice cold beer. xD

I would buy you a sixer of your favorite beer for that. Unfortunately I live about 3000+ miles away. Lol

There is no plug built into your truck for the cap brake light. You have to splice into the brake light circuit at the taillight or into the trailer harness. You will want to use the other half of that plug you have so that you can easily remove your cap if needed.
