Well, I just traded in my 2016 Tacoma. Here's why...

I have had Fords, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Toyota's and many others. Have to admit, Ford F-250, lifted, locked was a hell of a truck, could tow anything. Currently we are working on fixing a lifted and locked Suburban, and the Jeep is non-opped right now. Today we are driving the Tacoma and the 4Runner. Why, because they are truly the best vehicles we have. Been driving for over 45 years and we always return back to Toyota. Done.

Anyone who buys the first year of a new model is going to be the guinea pigs for the corporation!
I bought a 2005 (first year of the second gen Tacoma) and it had three issues: rear suspension was too soft and bottomed out on bumps, the ABS brakes were terrible... it wouldn't stop correctly on wet or gravel roads, and the clock spring wire harness fail in the steering column was not fixed under warranty. However, it was my second Tacoma and the first one (2001) was so perfect and the 2005 was great outside of those three issues, that I got a 2010... and that was is the best Tacoma yet! The brakes have no issues, the rear suspension no longer bottoms out and hopefully the clock spring cable problem was fixed. It is not as trouble free as the 2001, but the A-TRAC system is just unreal on making the truck impossible to get stuck or not go where I want!

I'm a little confused. You went from a full size to a mid size and you complain about the truck being smaller? You "say" there is a buzzing noise coming from the wheel and you are the only one that can hear it? You complain to your dealer, you complain to corporate and then tell them BULLSHIT and complain that they never called you back? Your last resort is to come here Tacomaworld to complain once again on why you traded it in on a full size truck and brag on your "great deal". Not sure what you are expecting from the members here on TW. Do you want us to pat you on the back saying "great job"?

I think you are missing what this forum is about. Seek advice on new products, tech support, buy & sell parts and supplies, show photos of your awesome ride, etc. Typically when you go to a Tacoma forum to complain on how this truck is a POS you are going to get some push back. Many of us enjoy our truck and think it is a great vehicle. Sure they have some problems, all vehicles do. Look at the 2nd gen models that were built for 11 years and their last year produced they still had problems.

I'm sure there is a Ford F-150 forum somewhere for you that has a thread called 3rd Gen Tacomas are POS that you could get better love from. Most of the members here on TW still think that they are quality vehicles.

This. I went from my Tacoma to the F150. I'm nervous with turbo quality so I went with the 5.0. Plus, something about the 6 cylinder sound from a full size truck is just plain weird haha. I loved my Tacoma, but the family grew, I needed more cab space and the Tundra fuel economy is laughable. My business partner has the DCSB Tacoma with a kid in a car seat. With the car seat in, I didn't fit in the front seat without my knees in the dash. They're great trucks, just too tight for car seats and 6'2" or taller people. Plus I average 17/22mpg in my F150. I was lucky to get that in my Taco, in a 4cyl...

An old supervisor I had drove a F-150 with the ecoboost motor and it blew on him right after the warranty. I still trust them, but never buy a first year model. My Tacoma is still going and I'm deeply disappointed that they did away with the single cab for the 3rd gen Tacoma. I truly miss the compact truck market since there was a good amount of competition in it and they have plenty of capability for my needs.

Especially with gas prices on the rise again That's why I'm keeping my 2014 Prius along with my brand new Tacoma TRD I live in the Northeast where in the winter can be brutal driving a Toyota Prius. That's why I decided to lease a Tacoma I'm not worried about the gas milage because I'll be changing both vehicles back and forth

    I've driven f150's with the 5.0 that get 20 mpg +.

I used to haul a 20 ft horse trailer fully loaded with a ram 3500 on the interstate that got 17 mpg going 70 mph.

Toyota, while great in most things, for some reason can't produce a domestic version that gets decent mileage. I've even driven a landcruiser 70 troopy turbo diesel while in Australia that got almost 30 mpg hauling seven people and gear off roading, so I know they are capable of good mpg. They just seem not worried about mpg in they're truck line. With the up and coming rise in fuel prices, a diesel version of either the tundra or Tacoma would sell like hot cakes.

Having had Tacomas and Tundras I know the resale is great, but I will say at least the North Texas area the 3.5 ecoboost resale values are very high..cant say about the 2.7 values...

I could be wrong, but it looks like a solid axle swap for the front (looks like leaf springs). So a serious crawler there :)

I drove like an old lady in a state where it is mainly flat and could barely get 20 mpg in a 2.7 manual 4wd regular cab.

I guess I'm part of the 10% who wish those bean counters at Toyota would have sold me a MT AC OR instead of only offering the DCSB. I don't even want the back seats. They're there because Toyota wouldn't offer me the MT in the trim with the body I wanted. Arrrrrrrrrrgh

My business partner has a 2014 DCSB Prerunner with the 2.7 auto trans. He converted it to 4wd and still gets 24mpg. Not sure how. Gearing in auto trans vs manual trans vastly different maybe? @jowybyo might be able to explain what I can't.

Was this "highway" or "city?" Did you have a lift or anything like that? I have never gotten below 21 MPG from a tank in my 2.7 4wd AC, but then again I do 75% highway driving.
