Spotted this vinyle wrapped Taco in Half Moon Bay this morning. Looks great in that color.

Plenty of tools out, we just get shit done quickly enough that the pictures don't catch it . But yeah, we party on my mod days

 

Also, sloped driveway makes it hard to put a bunch of trucks on jack stands

Anyone have any recommendations for cutting LCA bushing sleeves? I swear they're made of some unholy fusion of mithril and adamantium! Cut off wheel has done the best but I can't get into each one...sawzall is useless.


Thoughts?

There was a thread on this that mentioned a specific sawzall blade, let me find it for you.

DIY LCA Bushing Replacement 2005+ Tacoma (4x4)

Diablo steel demon. I believe @brutalguyracing used a bottle jack and a torch to remove his bushings but I just searched for the blades.

 

That would be the preferred method. Otherwise, it might take something like this to push the fused sleeves out, but I doubt it works.

 

I don't know if that approach is going to work being that the bushing has to go somewhere and it's pancaked between 2 pieces of steel. Unless that's just a demo picture.

I'd say a shop press but it would be awkward getting it centered, the bottle jack method is probably the best bet as far as that route goes, similar to the porta-power units we use on the boats.

Im just jealous. I wish i could afford to pay someone to everything for me. Its nice to know how to do it but it doesn't mean i love doing it.

 

Yeah I went back and forth on installing the front end myself, thats easy enough, but he would have had to tear it all off anyways to install all the gussets and secondaries, so it worked out. I agree though, a welder is on my list of shit to buy, sooner or later something is gonna break and I don't want to rely on someone else to fix it every time.

Good luck. I did 1 of my LCA bushings.was a total pain. In didn't have to cut the sleevem just remove the whole bushing. I still have 3 LCA bushings if anyone wants them lol
