Fellas....I know this post is a bit old but I just got my SEMA rims yesterday and don't know what everyone is talking about. What do I need to worry about with my center caps? Peeling? Please help explain. Grrrrrracious.

The TRD lettering stickers will peel off when you wash them. The workaround is to spray just the center caps with clear coat to seal the stickers on and the problem is avoided.

See the posts earlier in the thread starting around here:

Correct, pull the caps off and hit them with a few clear coats separately and you are good to go. If you read though the link I posted earlier there was some commentary on if it is better to go with a gloss clear or a flat clear, check that out to make sure you get the look you want.

My Toyota parts manager said the revised caps no longer peel. Toyota was warrantying the peeling caps. I did not spray mine and they have made it through a New England winter no peeling yet and I wash the truck 2 times a week.

man...thanks for saying that. mine look pretty awesome and solid right out of the box. don't see where they would peel. would much rather not have to mess with them. guess we'll see.

Yeah, I was in the same boat as you and didn't really understand how they could peel unless there was a paint adhesion issue. My letters are recessed and painted on nicely. If you were going to spray I would spray the entire cap. Some guys just covered the letters but honestly I do not see how that helps anything because it fails to seal the lettering which presumably is the issue...an adhesion issue with the plastic.. The purpose of the clear coat would be to seal the letters from the elements. Simply clearing over their outline seems like a waste of time IMHO. After considering it I asked my Toyota parts guy and he indicated that the early caps peeled on the 4runners and that Toyota has updated the issue. He could be full of it IDK but I'll make sure her warranty them if they peel lol.

Had TRD's mounted up on my 2015 DCSB yesterday.....stock 265/65/17's for the moment. Level kit on the front...stock rear height.
Advice on tire size that won't rub given the setup?

If any of you guy can give me a little light!

Im buying the 17" trd pro sema and im putting them on my stock toyos 265/65/17 tires. How would the change in width, from 7.5" to 7", and offset change, from 30mm to 4mm, affect me?

    I have a 16 trd sport with 17x7.5 inches.

It is going to push your wheels out about 0.8" further than stock. On a second gen this aligns the tire nicely with the edge of the fender without going passed it.
