This. People need to be made aware that going to the dealer does nothing to solve the problem. CORPORATE needs to hear of the problem.

Also, the work order should specifically state that you went in for the vibration concern and that it was noticed and found on other vehicles / no solution offered.

If your work order doesn't acknowledge it or detail out what happened, it is even more useless.

People notifying corporate is the only chance there is at a possible fix.

Consumers Reports stated in the April issue, which is the annual auto issue that the 2016 Tacoma is "to be tested". The testing and their review of the vehicle will be in an up coming issue. I suggest owners contact CRs and bring this issue to their attention. I believe the only way corporate is going to do anything about this is if a major publication identifies and reports on the problem. There just aren't the numbers of owners complaining about the problem in relation to sales volume to get Toyota to respond.

Very curious to see if this somehow gets resolved when the '17s come out.

Also, it is a lot easier to notice when driving it back to back with a car that has a normal smooth ride.

How does one contact consumer reports? I'd love to bring it to their attention. I just got a survey from Toyota today, and I made sure they understood the difficulty.

Thanks, it's even better than that. They have fancy drop downs and you can select "I have a news tip/story idea" for "Cars".

Regrettably, that review has already been published in the June issue (page 63). The article makes no mention of the vibration. I believe the review to be more negative than positive. They give the 2016 Tacoma an overall score of 54 out of 100. In my opinion, the review can best be summarized by the following quote: "But make no mistake, the Tacoma drives like a primitive, agricultural-era relic. For all Toyota's claims that this is an all-new truck, key features seem as though Toyota slept through the past decade's advances in truck technology and interior design."

The consumer reports review mentioned one thing that is my single biggest complaint and I haven't heard anybody else complain about. Engine noise.

I think more people need to do this as well. I just drove my friends car that has known bad motor mounts and it was still smoother than the Tacoma. I was amazed. There was obvious vibration from the bad motor mounts but it wasn't the same and the steering wheel had no buzzing.

So a car that costs about 5k at most now with shot motor mounts has less vibration in the floor, and especially steering wheel, than a 30k+ 2016 Tacoma. Great. I will push as hard as I can once my truck is registered to get a field tech out and spend some time with them. This is so far from "normal."

Has anyone considered that the cat looks to be hard mounted to the frame? It doesn't look like there's a rubber hanger up there. Could the cat support itself without that hanger?

Unfortunately, not according to Toyota.... I keep hoping for a solution; however, have basically resigned myself to trading it off for either a GMC Canyon Denali (when they come out in '17) or a new Ridgeline, depending on how it does. The older Ridgeline was not fun on the many fire roads I travel on, so it will be interesting to see what Honda has done with their rediesign...

I don't like taking the financial hit; however, have no choice since I can't drive this truck anywhere but local and need it for travelling...wife is getting annoyed we always take her car when travelling out of town...

I am sending Toyota the paperwork for my "Buy Back Case" today. I think they will then have 30 days to either "qualify" or Disqualify" it for buy-back.
If they do then I'm done, if not, then I'll trade it in for a Colorado....

I feel the frustration. The only thing that keeps me sane is the manual transmission. Thankfully I can drop a gear and get out of the RPM range where it is the worst. I lose money on gas but not as much as the hit I would take trading in. Also, unfortunately, manual transmission options are limited with other mid size manufacturers.

What really bums me out is that this would be a relatively easy diagnosis for a small team of NVH engineers. We know how to repeatedly duplicate the issue (that is usually the hardest part), so they need to put an accelerometer on the steering wheel, recreate the problem and they have the frequency it is occurring at. Then they need to match it to a component. Many components that could cause this have known operating frequency ranges or can easily be calculated. Toyota has expensive equipment for all of this and yet we just have some field "engineer" drive around the block and then say "normal" with no hard evidence or data.

So it leaves us faced with the choice of trade in and lose 5 or 6 grand or spend who knows how much in having a 3rd party diagnose and fix the issue.

Does yours get worse as the air temp gets warmer? Could be another clue to add to the list.

I don't know, I live in southern California where it is pretty much one temperature year round until summer when it gets just a little bit warmer. I don't notice a difference when it is 60 in the morning vs 75 in the afternoon. I also don't notice a difference if the truck is cold vs warm. I remember when I had a bad pinion bearing in another truck the vibration aspect wouldnt be as intense until the diff fluid heated up a bit.

I've driven mine at 30 and at 70 and I swear I don't notice it as much when it is 30 in the morning.

People on here have said that it is more noticeable as it warms up...

Just doing the habitual googling for vibration in the '16 Tacomas and came across this. Not sure if we can glean any info from this, but thought I'd forward this along. Has some good info on the various components (e.g. new exhaust manifold, new catalytic converter location, engine, etc.) we've all been discussing as potential sources of the vibration.

So I had my truck inspected. It was up on the racked. Seemed that the buzz was not noticeable after for about 3 mile. I do know I do have slight diff bearing vibe. Wonder it the bearing is part of it. Have anyone installed the ecbs bushing and still experience it. Toyota screwd the kicking donkey with this truck. Still wish I bought the new f150 but I would take a big hit trading.
