That is a good idea! Do you remember the diameter of the pipe you used?

It's been a while since I made it. I would go out and measure it but my truck is at the dealership waiting for the frame replacement. Not expecting to get it back till mid June. At first I was going to make a steel sleeve that fit inside and would cover the slot in the hinge and be completely stealth but this was easier and I had the pipe on hand.

That's also a good idea, a steel sleeve inside would be almost impossibe to cut. The reason I asked is I have the hose clamp on it & I'd have to take it off to measure it accurately.

Dang, sorry man. I think I'm finally going to do my first sticker mod, "I dial 357".

For 400$ the dealer installed a tailgate lock on mine the first weekend of owning the truck, that monday someone tried to steal my tailgate, but failes it was well worth it.

I think it's gotta be 2". That is a great idea, I think I might change my hose clamp to that.

Wait, $400 to protect a possibly $400 part? What if they try to pick that lock and damage the lock , you'll have to shell out another $400?

How do you know someone tried to steal and failed? Did they try to pick the lock or you just saw fingerprints?

True that, what's a pop & lock $60-$70. Easy to install.

Yeah, I've had that way for four years. No problems yet, knock on wood. If it does happen, I'll probably trade it in for a 2016 with the lock factory installed. :D

I got the expensive one that works with the lock button on the key, and i knew someone tried to steal, because the handle was ripped off the bracket

I find it odd the bed mat wasn't also missing o_O
I mean you'd think they'd just take that too.

It's the world we live in, it's easier to push a button to unlock a tailgate than having to use a key

A tailgate and a bed mat are a lot for one guy to carry.

I'm sorry for your loss, OP.

Seeing it motivated me to (hurry-up and) install the Pop & Lock I recently purchased.
