I need a plane ticket to kick your a$$ for setting up all these group buys and making me spend money. haha

I probably wont, since there are MANY things on the list that trump a solar setup right now. But may have someone interested so I'll keep an eye on the thread.

Decisions decisions.... Go with a fixed 100W on the roof or a deployable 100W? I like the idea of the fixed panel as it'll always be doing some charging when at trailheads and other places where you can't deploy a portable unit but it has the limitations of less than ideal angle and if you are parked in the shade you'll get little to nothing out of it. The portable unit can be setup in the sun when you are in the shade but won't be doing you any good in places where you can't leave it setup with walking off.

Thoughts? (and don't say one of each haha)

    One of each! j/k

I ended up with a deployable 100W which has definitely come in handy. I like being able to reset the solar panels at night so they are oriented in the right direction through the morning. If I leave camp I just rotate it in the other direction. I don't think I'd be able to get as much efficiency out of the 100W panels if I didn't have the ability to do this. Plus, I was able to use it to charge my friend's Arkpak at camp while we were out on a trail run.

If I had to choose, I'd probably go for either the higher wattage fixed unit (150W) or the deployable 100W unit.

Tempted but I need it for a 5/20-5/22 trip. Interested in the 100W w/controller. I take it I need to bite the bullet and pay a bit more to guarantee delivery by then?

Hmm, unfortunately I really am leaning towards a fixed mount 100W on the Tacoma and a 100W deployable that I could use on either the Taco or the trailer..

My main draw at camp is the fridge which is probably 2amps/hr so even a marginally producing fixed mount should offset 10 to 12 hours of run time with reasonable sun exposure. That's what kills me now at least, after 3 or 4 days out on the bike will put the ARB in power save mode and I need to run the truck for a while to bring the auxiliary battery back up.

@.45 JHP - So is the advertised size of the portable 100W pretty accurate at 19.9 x 27.2 x 2.8? Is that in the case folded up or out of the case folded up? I'm wondering if I can squeeze it behind my seat if I pull the plastics out deploy to sunny spots when at camp.

Yeah, it might also be too short of a window for them to get stuff out to you. I'd recommend getting added to the list, and being one of the first callers on Monday to see if they can ship it out faster. Might still be cheaper than Amazon.

That's out of the case, folded up. Unfortunately I don't have a Tacoma, but the measurements are pretty spot on. The case only adds about 1/2" (if that) more on all sides- it's pretty form fitting.

Bummer, won't quite fit behind the seat then. PM headed your way though for a 100W fixed panel, I'll have to think a little more if I'll grab anything else with it on the GB.

@.45 JHP have you inquired with Renogy if the discount can be any better? Just curious because there is no need to wait for a GB if we can purchase the same product on ebay for a whopping $10 more right now, with no requirement on amount of orders...

I had a conversation with someone on Amazon that had the renogy suitcase and he reported: "20x27.2 x3" when I asked him to measure the actual product. good luck!
oh and by the way, you'll be getting about 72w in full noon time sun from one 100w panel (or 2 50 watt panels in this case). if anyone has better readings on the folding suitcase panels, please chime in.

Thanks for the extra info on the dimensions, it looks like it'd end up hitting the seat latch thing based on those dimensions but I guess I'll know for sure if I end up going with the suitcase too.

The wattage isn't a surprise but it's good to have the first hand knowledge

I know the pair of 32W panels I have on my trailer put something like 3.5A out at their peak combined but it keep the house battery topped off in camp with the limited draw from recharging my gadgets and a light or two. The numbers show that 72W should push out around 4A which will at least keep me close to floating my Tacoma house batt when setup at camp and running the fridge

I'll be out of town over the next few days in case anyone is wondering why I haven't responded to their PMs or posts. I'll add you when I come back on Sunday.

Unfortunately the margin is very slim on these, this is the lowest that you'll find and there are no further discounts.

I'm sorry, I just want to ask Op, what kind of pop-up tent is that.
