Are you seriously just talking shit? Here's a question, have you measured the OE bushings while installed on the truck for the compressed size vs the larger bushing installed? I bet you'll find a large difference. So go ahead and keep running your mouth and recommend everyone do a mild body lift only on their rad support.

Also, I havent once said do not install these, I literally have them sitting on the shelf, you know this, and I in fact showed you where to get the steering rack bushings. So chill the fuck out.

Read it few times now, still sussing it out, while you are very emphatic that your way is the best way, there's plenty of dissent in this thread. Changing the height with the thicker bushing would seem to change the geometry of where the body is supported, not sure that's a great thing, that said the OEM ones do need to go, so until a better solution comes up I'm going to put these in, however perhaps without the top washer....

Top washer provides a flat surface for the bushing to rest on.

To each his own, I'm not saying my way is the best way, because if you want to look at it like that, I'm sure Toyota would insist that theirs is the best way, so different strokes for different folks. I however have noted better control over the front end and reduced flex while wheeling.

Also, the bumper and fender gap tends to flex as much as .5" to 1" when wheeling with OE. Not something I would be inclined to say is very stellar as far as stock holding ability is concerned.

This happened to my 07, likely from failure of oem rad support bushings but I could be wrong.. so you can see how important it is not just to fix this, but to get it right, reading the thread the hood is pushed up.on a few people's trucks after swapping the bushings...

    Holy shit! That's not good!

As far as the hood being pushed up on some members trucks, the remedy to that is to adjust your underhood rubber stoppers until satisfied, just don't adjust them down to the point where there is no "pop" left on your hood latch.

When I purchased the whole kit it did come with instructions, basically just a " blow up " drawing of how to stack the washers, sleeves and bushings. BTW the correct configuration is the thinner bushing on top w/ matching washer on top of the bushing.

The post I was replying to the Op did not use all of the supplied " hardware " = he did not use all of the washers that came in the kit I.E: there were parts left over on the garage floor after the install = generally not installed correctly.

I have a feeling the reason you guys are not getting instructions is that you are just ordering universal parts but when you order the whole kit it is vehicle specific.

Found this in the thread, guy got instructions with his complete kit, instructions say small on top....

As for greasing the bushings, this is from a poly bushing supplier >>>>>>>

Have you just purchased some new poly bushings to replace your old worn rubber bushings? Polyurethane suspension bushings need to be greased before installing them to prolong life and keep it from squeaking. There is a right way and a wrong way to do this. The type of grease you use is crucial. A Poly bushing if greased properly will outlast a rubber bushing.

To begin let’s talk about the grease you should use. You should only use lithium based grease on polyurethane.

I measured a brand new tacoma's spacing between the frame and support and matched it using the smaller bushing on top w/ a washer. I didn't want to lift the body up more than it's supposed to be with the larger bushing.

Can anyone without these bushings go get a solid measurement of OEM gap between body and frame?

Clearly picture proof isn't enough. I will be sure to take the measurement on my truck when I get it back, but I'm like 99% sure putting a larger bushing than designed on top is lifting the body and causing undue stress on the body as a whole. So unless you plan on putting the same bushing on every cab mount to lift it a hair, get ready for a break somewhere.

Agreed, these are going in w small on top, the gap is not only the same, the poly is very stiff, so the gap will remain as it was OEM with the weight of the truck on them, they might compress slightly when wheeling, but much less than the rubber...

These bushings being universal and not designed for any specific truck or vehicle, the instructions supplied are general install instructions. I installed them as I deemed fit for what I needed and it works.

Whether some members are receiving their instructions with the bushings or not, that is a good question.

If you buy the black bushings there is no need to grease them whatsoever, the way they are constructed from my understanding and the reason for their color is that they are self lubricated already, so drop in and go.

It's the red's which require grease. I still have not encountered one single squeak out of mine and I have put them through the elements and back already.

Even if it was a so called "body lift," as you want to call it, the weight of the front is not being support by an extension block or anything else. It is simply a bushing replacement that is constructed o polyurethane, steel inner sleeves and the bolts fastening the body to the frame. There is no chance it can break in the event of wheeling. You more than know that, knowing how I drive man. I haven't touched them since I installed them, nor do I see any reason whatsoever to do so. If I was telling people to install this on their trucks, then you should be concerned about it being a "body lift:"

Dude, I'm not talking about breaking the bushing. Do you understand what i'm trying to say. Your body is rigid, its meant to mount to the frame at a certain height in a certain way. By putting larger bushings up front you are causing the front of the body to sit higher than the rest of the body mounted to the frame. So every bump or stress to the truck is putting extra stress on the body because it is under strain from being higher up front than the rest of the body mounts.

I get what you are saying. Still tracking my body like a hawk, even after all the wheeling, and I have still yet to see any deformation, cracks, or additional stress the larger bushing has not put on the body.

Dude. You are talking to a fossil here. Explain the acronyms!!!

Well, I'd bet your shit is already deformed for multiple reasons, but neither of us is an expert on frames/body deformation. I didn't even know I had issues on my prerunner until a frame specialist showed me the bulges and deformations that I thought were always like that.
