Hey guys need some help with my mt Shasta. How do I get the metal bar to fit the extra overhang? And how do I get the cover to slip in between that metal rail

You've gotta put the metal bar in, then put the ends in the little plastic holders (it has to be removed every time you pack up the tent). Just stand on the ladder, get it basically where it goes, then put the ends on the plastic things.

The cover should just slide in the track of the base that is attached to the vehicle. It is way easier to do the first few times with two people- have one person hold the cover up and a second guide it into and through the tracks. I can't remember, but I think it can only be done when the tent is closed.

These things are kind of a pain the first few times, but get easier once you get the hang of it.

Thanks man! I got the overhang but that cover won't go. I'm actually starting to rip the stitching more than get it through :/

I don't know anything about setting up RTTs yet but I know one thing... If you gotta force it it probably doesn't fit...

Unless youre in bed... Then just use more lube :D

That's not good. Are you doing it with the tent closed? Putting it in the bottom-most track?

Side note can I leave the annex attached when I close up the tent?

I have not tried to leave the annex on, I think it is only possible with the smaller tents. Also, the annex uses the same track as the cover, so you would not be able to put the cover on properly...which is proving to be an issue anyway. I usually leave my pillows and sleeping bags up there, so there is some extra room, but I don't have a problem with taking off and folding up the annex each time I use it.

Scrapped my old idea and chose to use 3/4 plywood. It worked much better that the 2x3 I initially used to frame.

My dual battery setup is and inverter is going behind the box. Once you remove the rear seats its amazing the amount of room that is there.

Ya I have an AC so I don't have that luxury. I gained about 3" pulling the back panel off the jumper seats. Ill be able to run power easily to the bed and RTT though

the metal that supports the overhang should go inside the tent when you're packing up. got any pics of what you're dealing with right now? there is a slight possibility that you got the wrong cover - I believe the Shasta cover is larger than the Bachelor cover so maybe you got a bachelor cover? @Cascadia Tents

some people have done it but i don't see how. I know my cover is pretty snug with just the tent and maybe my lighter sleeping bag. Cant imagine cramming hte annex in there too

I know of one member that had his tent slashed. I won't disclose who.
Thankfully the cover took the most damage. The rain fly and tent just had a small cut.

they have the extra channel now.... might be worth it. I know I'm lazy too and leave the cover on most trips. Its just a pain to deal with i the cold mornings - the materials gets so stiff. I usually just put the annex up without worrying about that 4th edge. I mainly use it as a bug and weather shelter though

no problems here. i think that for the most part people don't know what in the hell these things are and they jsut leave then alone. that might not be the case for much longer as they get more and more popular.

Yeah it's going to be a doggy room so I might figure a way you put Velcro under the tent for the annex wall to hold onto instead. I saw at my school a few ransoms have a rtt. Mainly a suburb outback and an Honda Pilot so I should be good
