A340F with and without Throttle shift down cable

I currently have an 2003 Tacoma 4x4 extended cab with the 3.4 engine coupled with the A340F transmission without the throttle shift down cable and my transmission recently went out on me. With not much knowledge on these transmission I recently bought a used A340f transmission that has the throttle shift down cable on it.

My question is, can I in someway convert the used transmission that i bought that has the throttle shift down cable into one that does not have one or can I just used the the transmission as is and have no issue at all?

nope, you're gonna need a 03 or 04 transmission.

 

I ran into the opposite problem with the first transmission I purchased to enable my 4x4 conversion.

There may be something a transmission expert could do.

I agree with @hossmaster, you are better off looking for an 03-04 transmission. Bonus, newer transmission will probably have fewer miles/less wear and tear..

 

You have an earlier A340F, starting in 2001 IIRC it was throttle by wire, also if in Ca. you need to make sure that your new/used trans IS from a Ca. emissions truck...

 

Yeah. After much reading on this, I agree with the above posts. FYI I just replaced the transmission in my 2002 DC.
