Well, I just traded in my 2016 Tacoma. Here's why...

Just drove from Miami to Tampa at about 80 mph getting just a hair over 21mpg. Driving around town I get 19+. Have less than 2k miles on it so I expect that to improve.

The Ecoboost is a nice truck; guy I work with has 2015 and loves it. It is comfy and well laid out, rides nice, aluminum won't rust, etc. But it cannot come close to mpg of Tacoma, both he and a nephew with F-150 Ecoboost hit 22mpg only on hiway on a calm day. Usually they average in the 15mpg range. If I don't drive like a chimpanzee I usually hang around 23mpg average and can hit 28 - 30 mpg on calm hiway doing 55 - 60. Admittedly 2/3 of my driving is hiway, rest is hills in SE Wisconsin and Northern Chicago 'burb congestion. 3 Tundra's I've owned averaged 22 mpg on calm hiway, 2 were 5.7L and 2014 was a 4.6L and did a bit better. Except for my m/t lust wining (I've A/T) the Tacoma has been perfect for 10K miles. My experience with Toyota's is that they "break in" at about 12K miles and my 2016 is certainly following this pattern.

I test drove a '15 F-150 a few days before ordering my Taco. Loved the power of that 3.5 in the Ford, so much more than the Taco's. The Ford has such a nice interior. Went with what has worked for me the last 17 years, another Toyota. No issues with it, no buzzing, great gas mileage, in the 20's, except for a trip in the valley last week. Maybe the new sliders affected that, we'll see.

Seeing a lot of you stating mileage approaching mid 20s and having no issues with your truck. I am glad to hear it! The Tacoma is a really nice vehicle. MINE just had a couple quirks. I drove it 6700 miles and just decided to trade cause I knew it was still worth a lot of money and with the rebates on F150s I knew I could trade and not lose my ass. Wish everyone continued good times with your Tacomas!

Not sure what kind of fetish you have over another mans anus you have but you seem to love the phrase butt-hurt. I would suggest you go to that forum to resolve that fantasy instead of TW. Not too many people here to help you with that issue.

Here - Let me help you out on your second problem. http://www.f150forum.com. Just go over there and type away to your fellow friends. You might find a couple of ex-Tacoma owners that you can bond with and become another butt-hurt fetish friend.

Not loosing any sleep my friend. I'm not the one who posted on a TW forum on why they no longer own a Tacoma....

Nope, nor do F-2Shitties. Mine was an awesome truck, lifted, geared, locked, 37s, had to almost give it away to get rid of it. Parts were expensive also. Never again.

Debating on keeping a Tacoma with vibrations that would hold most of its value and drive me insane, OR trade it in for a Ford F-150 that would be much more comfortable, shifts better and won't hold it's value

Well Ken, only you can answer that question.
Back in 2011, I bought a tundra 4.6L and it shifted erratically and my dog developed in anxiety in it.
He grew up in my 2006 Tacoma so.....I tried and tried to "like" the Tundra.
It was sweet and all. Lots of creature comforts.
But at the end of the day, the shifting drove me nuts as well as Mr. Simon.
I traded it after a year for my 2013 Tacoma TRD OR DC 4WD auto (which I got a rebate on to boot paid $29500!).
I was much happier. Simon too. :)
Soooo......value....book value? Really a vehicle is only worth what you can sell it for, either trade or PP.
I have only seen high value when either keeping my Toyota truck for a really, really long time or trading it in for something more expensive.
Value sitting in my driveway means nothing.
Value sitting in my driveway and not liking it makes me
Good luck with your decision for sure.
The newer Tacomas are really nice but if you are not happy than trade that truck in. :burnrubber:

Thanks.... I am starting to feel the same way.... I will let Corporate Claim run it's course, although I am 99.99% sure I will disappointed with their response.

Sounds to me like you wanted a full size Ford all along, not sure why you bought a Tacoma. From what I've read gas mileage seems to vary drastically due to driving styles. I get no less than 20mpg average and during my latest 1500 mile trip I was averaging between 22-24mpg on the highway. Very satisfied. Have fun with your Ford

I actually wanted a Tacoma, especially after the redesign! I am VERY happy with everything else on the truck, but my sanity cannot take a highway vibration and a Viration every time I come to a red light or stop sign. I was getting 19.8 MPG city/highway.... very disappointed in the way Toyota is handling this issue! This not a :"characteristic of the truck".
If they would have told me "There is an issue and we are working on it", I'd keep it. But who knows how long until there is a fix 2 months 2 years?

I'll start by saying I really am not a fan of my 3rd Gen, so I'm not coming to they thread as a fanboy who attacks everyone who doesn't like their new Tacoma. But what I can't understand is how did you fit into a 1st Gen Tacoma then later complain that the 3rd Gen was too small? Did you 'fill out' a little over the years or something?

I will 100% agree with you though about how Toyota handles issues, especially when they are ones that MANY people are having with these trucks. They have either blatantly ignored it, skirted the issue and attempted to not address a concern when you mention it when bringing in the truck for regular service, or altogether insult you and basically call you a liar. After taking it to the dealer the first time for my transmission concert I later told them I had found many people complaining about the same transmission uses I had been experiencing (I actually never knew these problems were something 3rd Gen owners were having until AFTER my first dealership visit, and only after that decided to do an internet search and discovered I wasn't imagining the problems) and brought it up to their service manager. He laughed and said just because its on the internet doesn't mean it's true. I agree to some extent, but if a lot of people have the same experience it should set off a red flag with Toyota and they should start to investigate. They apparently don't give a shit about it.

I have owned two 2nd gen tacomas and loved them both. A 2007 regular cab (the greatest hunting truck ever in my opinion), and a 2012 double cab TRD off road. Both were fantastic only repairs I had to make was a wheel bearing on the 2007 and a cv axle shaft on the 2012 that was ripped. After that I got into the 5th gen 4Runner crowd, and I loved that 4 runner and how I had it looking. Problem was the 4Runner ate its first axle in 15,000 miles and the front end parts went out constantly with a mild lift. Don't know why the tacomas never did though. My wife wanted a full size truck and she likes fords and heard they got good mileage for a full size. So I bought a super crew 2015 f150 fx4 with the 5.0 v8 And it's a great truck too has already been more reliable than my 4Runner was. And I get around 17.5 to 18 mpg mixed with city and highway and 20 on the all highway trips. Pretty good I think for a 385 horsepower full size truck with a lot of room for our new baby. But I will never say anything bad about the 2nd gen tacomas (only ones I've owned). And sometimes I still miss them! I miss the looks of my 4Runner but that's about all on that one.

I didn't really buy the first gen as our family vehicle. I was younger then without kids and I sure as hell didn't pay over $40k for it...

The difference in the value the Ford keeps vs the Tacoma only has relevance if you decide to get rid of the FOrd. If you keep it for a long time, it's a moot point....

You seem to be obsessed with the fact that I traded my Tacoma?!? Get over it. I bought one, it had some issues, SO I got rid of it. I'm sorry it has upset YOUR life so much now that I don't have a Tacoma in my garage... Man dude, your life must be perfect if all you have to worry about is what truck is in my garage! GET OVER IT!!!

I hear ya, in hindsight I probably should have waited for few years before I bought the new-gen.

But I still drive my 2015 3500 Cummins, 95% of the time. Rolling on 35" MT's it still is a lot kinder on fuel then my Taco.

I haven't hopped in the Yota for probably a month now, just mainly use it for off-roading or camping, and I've had no issues with it in that type of use.
