Any particular reason you want to view it through your laptop and not your phone?

I do not have much of cell phone as it is tracfone , usually just for emergencies . I have to have a land line anyway for my DSL internet so that is the phone I use the most .

After a quick search, I'm not really seeing anything that fits the bill. Good luck though!

I could not find anything free either .
I just found out my cell phone has Android has 4.4.2 . I have looked at the Torque lite app for it but it does no say what version it will work with . My phone is really slow but I guess I will try to download it and see if it works . Thanks .

I have no idea. I've never used the app. I was just going to say if you had a manual transmission, then monitoring temp isn't possible.

No problem . The app is pretty cool . I haven't had time to play much with it but the $4.95 has a lot of things it can do real time .
I can leave the reader connected to the trk and it can monitor what seems to be most temps fuel pressure misfires , fault codes etc. It had me set up a profile with the weight of the trk engine size et. and it will do 0 to 60 times and i think 1/4 mile times . A host of other things also . I think its pretty cool for $5 .

It's definitely on my soon-to-buy list. It seems more than worth it for pretty cheap.

Torque is a good app, and it works well.
Unfortunately does not show ATF temp, for that you need to set up a custom PID.
But to this day I have not found the register address (PID) for either of the ATF sensors.
Myself and others are keeping an eye open for these things, stay tuned.

I did buy the Torque pay for program . It does have trans temp . It has 2 ways of doing a trans temp also.
I just tried the first one and it worked . Since it has 2 ways , does this have something to do with you saying "either of the ATF sensors " ? Do they each do something different ? Again I did not try the second method the torque app had.

    update =
I did some reading on the Torque app forum and found out what I needed . There are 2 temp sensors in the trans. I am not sure which one is used when checking the trans level .

The readings you see standard in Torque don't work on the '16 Tacoma.
The first indicator would show you coolant temp, and the second a constant 0.
If you come across the PIDs for the '16 Tacoma, please post them.

Hello , Does this scangauge really work with a 2016 Tacoma V6 auto, for reading the transmission temp , for doing a trans fluid level check ?

I'm not sure if it will know the fluid level. You might want to call them or email them. But for 1st and 2nd gens, it will read the temp

Does it? I always thought that was the one thing it didn't read which is why some people preferred ultra gauge.

I thought it was the other way around. Ultra gauge is cheaper due to that. I think, but I'm in the hospital on morphine, so I could be wrong.
