Alrighty guys i love my tacoma as much as any other memeber on here but due to my situation with money..i 've found a Honda ridgeline for a good price that i'd be able to pay off soon than i would with the tacoma..

I just wanted everyones opinion on the Ridgeline.. Is it a good off road vehicle? i know the engine is a little weaker than the taco..i'm just not sure how good the drivetrain is..Thank in advance!

Dont expect to do any offroading with that vehicle. There was a report around here where the Taco, Frontier, and Ridgeline truck were taken to a dirt course for tests and the Ridgeline blew shocks very quickly. Honda refused to repair the brand new truck's shocks by claiming that the truck was abused. Its really just a passenger car with a bed, not really meant to be used as a truck

I don't think the ridgeline would make a good Off road vehicle, My parents have a pilot, pretty much the same minus the bed and its smooth on road, but off road it lacks a few things, the suspension are a little to soft for a rough road, it also lacks ground clearance. Have you looked into the older double cab Tacoma?

Also the shocks blew in my dads pilot after 2 years of owning it the dealer replaced it for free.

It's gotten pretty good reviews. If it will suit your needs, go for it. Like they said, it's not an off-road vehicle.

hats what I said last time, but they have a "ladder frame" basically a really shitty frame. and they have independant REAR suspension

thanks for the quick replies! yeah..i've watched some youtube videos of ridgelines off roading..and i know most videos can't do alot of justice..but every video had a stuck ridgeline in it.. my next option is a 2007 gmc sierra 4x4 which is cheaper than the ridgeline buy a grand..but it has 75k miles on it..where as the ridgeline has 21k..lol the sierra is going for 21,999 and the ridgelines going for 22,999..

What are you guys talking about, that it can't offroad? The Ridgeline is a very capable mall crawler. lol

I don't know much about the truck, but I did see the thread on here about it blowing the shocks like dysfunctnlretard has said.
I think the in-bed compartment is kinda cool, but the engine is too weak, and it cost way too much.

But it is all about what you like.

I would stick with the Tacoma. It has a better resale value. Like one other said an older Tacoma would be a great idea. High miles doesn't matter. I have 136,000 on my 2005 & only changed the factory battery a couple months ago.

If I were to buy one, I would buy an MDX used or otherwise. No offense but that thing is a car, not a truck by most standards... but hey, I've seen Geo's off roading!

id go with the honda, just cause it makes more sense economically...i mean you might be in a soccor mom mobile but it gets you places and it won't break on you like a lovley GM would.

The question you may ask yourself is....

What does the Ridgeline have that you don't already have in the tacoma?

I can't see the Ridgeline having any benefits to what you already have - but that's me.

Ridgeline is the newest vehicle of choice for today's soccer moms.

I'm pretty sure the Ridgeline is based on the Pilot which in turn is based on the Camry, so you're basically driving a lifted Camry. If that's what you want go for it. The little CRV is the same thing, based on the Civic.
