This. If red loctite was applied correctly, you are not getting it off without heat. I have rattled 3/4" impact at 120psi with no luck.

 

Pretty much this. Red is needed if you are worried about shit coming loose and don't know how to check. I fully understand why a manufacturer would recommend it, but personally I stick with blue because i know I'm gonna want that bolt off sooner or later

So I retract my statement about nuts with red on it coming loose, I must have been thinking of something else. OR, it was applied incorrectly. I still persist that red is overkill for anything aftermarket you're putting in our trucks.

 

Having a little issue here guys.. Just installed my DK stock length lowers and icon 14" 700# coils last week. Before my alignment it was at 23" hub to fender after my alignment it was 24" hub to fender on both sides. I wasent able to drive it around to settle the coils in before the alignment cause it was so bad and I needed it back ASAP it's been a few days now of driving and trying to hit bumps to compress the shocks and now my driver side is 24" and my passenger is 25" I did not touch anything since the alignment and I have 3/4" of thread showing on the passenger side and a inch on the driver. Only have stel ifs, mid, tranny skids on for now... So why all of a sudden did I gain another inch? Everything looks like it's installed correctly and it's all tight...

 

Because you added heavier coils so they don't compress as much with the weight?

 

sounds like it still hasnt settled a bit since installing the LCAs from being at droop for some time.

Maybe you used the "penis" or "travel" ruler for the passenger side? Those often gain inches

I'm not making this shit up bro, just google " Loctite and nylock nuts" and you will get a ton of search results talking about how loctite degrades plastics etc.

On the subject of red loctite - fuck that shit, if it is any part that you service frequently using red loctite is retarded...unless you enjoy using a torch to heat parts to melt the loctite. Blue works great.

No, its true. Wow. They recommended red loctite on nylocks and supplied both.

 

it blows my mind that spidertrax gives you red loctite for the lugs.

when i was a wee lad, i used it on mine. and then proceeded to snap 80% of my lugs off within months because of the nuts seizing on the lugs.

 

Well...technically speaking any company offering any product with any sort of safety concern is going to say red loctite...but again if it is a part that ever want to service aw hell naw. Properly applied red loctite has to be heated to 500 degrees to remove, just saw a funny quote about red loctite - red = stop sign...stop and think real hard do I ever want to take this off again.

 

Probably to cover their asses from the few idiots that won't re-check torque after the recommended milage.
