I am off work that weekend!!! I would love to go but I had a bad experience with 2wd and sand some years back. Does anyone have an open seat and want to split gas??

This is why I don't want to take my prerunner down the beach. This was was not fun digging part of my truck out and getting pulled out the rest of the way.

Don't sweat it TEX, I am taking my prerunner down the beach, There will be plenty of 4x4's & tow staps. In fact I am going to be mad if I don't get stuck at least once. lol. :)

I am sure there will be plenty of extra seats as well if that is what you prefer, I am not sure how many people are coming with me, but I have a crew cab & I'm sure we can make room. I might need the help digging :D

I would do that but driving to tyler is 120 miles from my house and then another 400+ to Port Aransas. I get off at 7pm on Friday so that would be a lot of driving that night. I was really hoping to meet up with someone in Austin or San Antonio area early on Saturday morning since I can stay at my Grandma's place in Austin.

I assume the plan is to drive all the way down to the channel and back, then camp and do whatever.

I personally will probably camp on the beach and fish once we're done driving around.

Fishing sounds like fun, other than having to haul Bait down there. :)

All the gas stations down there sell it, and I have a special cooler for that stinky crap.

There is no gas stations or Bait houses at the channel, is there? isn't that where you want to fish?

    Drew,
What kind of fishing gear would I need to bring for the surf? Long rod and heavy weights with prongs for the current?
I have just about everyting for bass fishing but dont make it to the salt very much so if I go I need to make sure I have what I need.
    Is everyone planning on camping?

Just put 20-30lb test on a medium action spinning rod and you'll be good. As for weights, I don't usually need the pronged ones, just some pyramid ones.

I had the name of the thread changed to reflect the correct date.

06HAOLE, if you could update your first post to reflect the new details, as well as a list of the folks attending as they sound off that would be great.
