i thought it'd be cool to have one thread with just photos of microfibers posted along with the brand/item name. Feel free to add your own. I'll start...

Pictured from left to right: Autogeek Gold Plush (~360gsm), Rag Co Creature Edgeless (420gsm), and Costco brand (supposedly ~360gsm).

    image.jpg

The Creatures are 10 for $17 on Amazon. The Spectrum are basically the same towel but with a sewn border.

The Creatures I got are substantially more plush than the Costco towels. For the price, they're a nice towel.

    The Costco's are 36 for $17.

I am very interested in what others have to say, including what others use and like. I believe this is the most important thing regarding detailing the outside of your truck. You can spend hundreds of dollars and multiple steps plus endless hours only to ruin the work you just did with the wrong towel.

The green towels in the back are from Detailers Domain. Similar to a double soft from Adams. The towels beside it are all Adams double softs with the exception of a single soft on top.

Yellow and blue towels in front with long nap are from Chemical Guys. They absolutely suck. Will not release dirt. If you drop one, you might at well throw it away. The smooth blue towels under those are glass towels. The dark blue towels on bottom are from Detailers Domain and are more of all purpose towel. The orange and gray towels are edgeless towels from Adams. More than likely the same at a TRC eagle edgeless. Just got a bunch of gray on sale at Adams.

    IMG_2796.jpg

Big plush in the back is an Uber drying towel from Detailers Domain. Replaced my Adams Great White waffle weave that are under it. Gray and blue towels are all purpose towels. Gray from Adams, blue from Detailers Domain. Blue waffle weave are from Adams. Also, a couple of Adams wash wedges (same as Lake Country) and Adams wash pad.

Plus have another dozen junk towels that I picked up from Chemical Guys/various locations that are interior towels.

Make sure to keep them separated! Best towels I have come in contact with are Griot's. Probably 50% of my towels came from them. Also have some Adams, Autogeek, Surf City, Detailers Domain, and Chemical Guys. The Chemical Guys are mixed in with the terry cloths as those are probably the worst of the group I have.

Sorry for the mess, just installed two toilets and the boxes are taking over my garage.

I strongly second this recommendation. The 530 GSM towels from Microfibertech are awesome.

I just ordered 5 Eagle Edgeless and 5 Purplenality. All from The Rag Company. Will post pics when they arrive. Still very happy with the Creature Edgeless, but wanted to try the Koreans for the sake of comparison. I want to know if they're worth twice the price.

Costco MF is garbage from my experience and only good for wiping mirrors at home. I would not use it on cars. The other MF from autogeek or other detailer oriented website should be good. The "gold plush" I use for mirrors and glass...it does a great job for those. Costco is great for many things... their MF towels is not one of them... I'm sure it has its purpose, but not for detailing cars and washing cars. I still have half to 3/4 bags full. Don't go cheap wtih MF towels... spend $50 to $100 on a good set and it'll last a while if you take care of them and reduce any chance or marring or scratching if you use good techniques for washing and buffing.

Thoughts so far... Just like anything else, you get what you pay for. I like to have a LOT of towels. So, I look for value to an extent. That said, cheap towels suck and will induce swirls. The edges on the Costco's have scratched my paint here and there (more so after a few wash/dry cycles). I don't use them on my paint anymore. Can you use them on paint? Certainly. I did for months. Just be careful.

Obviously, I like the TRC Eagles the best. But I'm not gonna pay $100 for 20 towels (yeah they're awesome, just not gonna do it).

For the money (10 towels for $17), the Creatures are an excellent value. Much more plush than the Purplenality, although the purples are definitely softer (korean). I think I'll keep the 5 Purplenality towels as dedicated wax/sealer removal towels.

I'll use the 5 Eagles for wiping polish. And I'll continue using my Creatures for spray wax/detail spray application.

I really am impressed with the Creatures for an all-around multipurpose towel. They work great for drying, hold a TON of water (good for waterless), have a dual nap (good for wax removal/buff), they are plush (420gsm), they're AWESOME on glass and for spray wax. And at 10 for $17, that's hard to beat.

I know there are better towels, but if you want something reasonably priced because you like to have several towels, they're a pretty nice option to have. After all the towels I've purchased, if I had to choose 1 towel for the money, it would be the Creature.
