Your post is interesting. This is my first "truck" truck. I've had SUV's and a 4runner that was a tank but was getting old. I haven't had anything that didn't have 4x4 since the 80's. I moved to FL and 4x4's might be a little overkill but recently I was on a trail and went right by someone who was just getting his f150 unstuck in the sand. So far at 6500 miles no buzzing or anything. It actually seems a lot smoother as advertised. I'm at sea level and I've chirped the tires a couple of times trying to turn into traffic fast from a standstill. I'm sure that won't happen straight ahead. So maybe that's an altitude thing? I've had it up to just over 90 with nothing remarkable except I got my doors blown off by a Bently at the same time. I'm not all that mechanical savvy. I'm also 6'1 and I don't even have the seat behind mine down. I keep a crate there so I can toss small bags, beach stuff, or have access to my kayaking gear so nothing slides around. I just figured it's an emergency seat. I kinda found myself wanting a bigger truck but I was reminded the Tundra got lousy mileage which held me from jumping into one in the first place. Looks like I'm averaging about 18 point something MPG but I didn't start counting fillups so I don't know for sure. So after reading some of these comments, I'm feeling like I made a decent choice. So far it has been solid and has done everything I've asked it to. Plus it looks really good on a sunny day at the beach. 150's are nice trucks too so I can't blame you for making a change.

I never said it held its value in comparison to the Tacoma. I DID say the residual value ONLY matters if you are trading it or trying to sell it. I commend the Tacomas on how well they hold their value for sure!! It was amazing what they gave me on trade. Invoice on my Tacoma was $38,300 and with 6700 miles on it the dealer got buy bids from wholesalers and used car lots for $37,000. That's amazing!

So the fact that 90% of the reviews you see online DO MENTION that they wish Toyota had given the backseat just a little more legroom has no bearing on what you think. I watched the reviews, LOTS of them. I still loved the truck. I bought one and drove it for 6700 miles. It has OTHER issues that were what I thought were faults in performance, the buzz, etc... If not for those items, I would have looked past the smaller backseat area.

Just a quick question.... For how many of you is this your first Tacoma ?? (or Toyota in general)

Yes this is a serious question

3rd for me + 2 4Runners in the family. They have there quirks but they are damn reliable and I have had TWO Tacomas that I sold for more than I paid for them a couple of years later. Find me any other vehicle you can do that on!

My 2016 Tacoma is my 3rd Tacoma and my 5th Toyota in a row. I have been biting my proverbial tongue to refrain from responding to some of the asinine responses to SteelerJim's various posts. Prior to my '16 Tacoma I owned a: 2010 FJ Cruiser; 2012 Tacoma (same model as my current '16); 2014 Tundra (wanted and needed a bigger truck, but this wasn't it); 2015 Tacoma (again, same model as my '16); and finally my 2016 Tacoma. My thoughts are similar to SteelerJim's, as far as my 2016 Tacoma is concerned. Both my 2012 and 2015 were more mechanically sound than my current 2016. Did I drive the 2016 prior to trading my 2015 in on it ('15 had approximately 15K miles on the odo)? No, I didn't. I assumed my 50K miles in the 2012 and 15K miles in my 2015 would have provided me an ample expectation for the 2016. How wrong I was. In my opinion Toyota's "trucks" (Tundra and Tacoma) aren't truly designed for continuous use as a truck. The feeling is that Toyota is putting a "truck" body on an SUV frame. When I felt I needed a bigger truck I traded up in size from the 2012 Tacoma to the 2014 Tundra, but once it sank in that there is NO interior storage space for anything (the Tacoma has MUCH more interior storage space than the Tundra-not real hard when the Tundra has no space to speak of) and the Tundra's gas mileage was terrible, I decided to trade back down in size to another Tacoma. Ahhhh . . . but I digress. My 2016 was looked over by a corporate field specialist this past Friday (04/29-I'm currently in a loaner Corolla ) for a host of issues. The dealership I dropped it off at is going to keep it for another week, at least, while attempting to resolve some of the issues. I'm sure the fact my truck is being kept for two weeks is my fault because I'm just a whiner about a $37K truck not shifting correctly, feeling like it's running over rumble strips on deceleration, wheezes like a kazoo on steroids in a crosswind, and buzzes like a bee swarm somewhere behind the glove box at about 45 m.p.h.
I wish I could blindly be a fan of this truck, like so many on this forum, but I'm one of those odd, old-school Americans that expect a decent product when I'm shelling out $37K. My plan is to be out of this Tacoma within the next year, but don't bother with the hating. When I'm out of the Tacoma I will forever remove myself from disgracing the forum of the blind followers.

I just noticed your in Gardnerville, NV. I don't have a city listed, but I am approximately ½ mile south of the city limit of Gardner, KS. Just thought that was kind of cool.
