What you need to know about lifting a 2016 Tacoma - Presented by Toytec Lifts

So why 886's then? If you look at that chart that Toytec posted 886's are the heaviest rated spring to accommodate a front bumper and winch. It would seem to me that if you are just doing skid plates you would want to go 888 or possibly 887.

 

So I'm looking at purchasing my Lift Kit but can't decide which one i should run maybe someone here can give me some good insight on which is the better of the two. I'm looking at the Toytec Boss 2.5 kit or the Allpro Lola Fox Kit. any one have recommendations?

 

Well I guess it depends on when you plan to order. The AP kit you are referencing is out of stock right now. I know that there are 2.5 BOSS coilovers available now. If you add in SPC UCA's you come out about $300 less the the AP kit. But I do see that there is a difference in the rear AAL's. BOSS 2.5's are relatively new to the market, but from everyone I have spoken with that have gotten them, they love them. I will be running them soon on my 2nd gen.

I've read most of the posts and called several places about the various lifts and there still seems to be a lot of variety. I get my 2016 tomorrow and I'm ready for a 3 inch lift. Almost all highway miles and will rarely be offroad. Wheelers recommended the Bilsteins and AAL. A local place recommended the Rough Country lift which is about $ 500 installed. Wheelers would be under $1,000 I think but would I benefit from all of that? I would like to run a 275 tire and not do any cutting or trimming.

 

Is there any consensus with UCA's? The light racing are more affordable, but I know there is always a downside when you save a few bucks

 

So im in the market for a 3" lift. i plan on offroading at least once a month. Hard not to in hawaii. only thing i ended up finding was the toytec boss kit. w/tcf ucas.. any help would be appreciated!!

 

Sup Bradda, was looking at a 3 inch lift myself for my 2016 taco. Couldn't find much out there yet.

Rough Country has a 4 inch suspension lift available for the 2016. Most people told me go check out topnotch in Hilo, but Topnotch is Top dollar. So I'll probably wait to lift my Taco. I really wanna hit Makalewena though.

Looks good! Considering a similar set up. How has the ride been for you? Any issues after alignment?

 

Did you need to get UCA's? If not were you able to get your alignment in spec? Also how is the ride with 887's? I was under the assumption that they were heavier duty and great for vehicles with more weight up front.

I'm looking to upgrade my suspension, probably going with Toytec boss front & rear. Not lifting it just going with a good set of AT tires (245/75-16) on my original steel wheels....

Anyone using a similar set up?

How much do the 885's settle?

I just installed them on my SR 4x4 2.7 with 5100's set to 0. I drove around to try and settle the springs, and I am getting exactly 2" of lift on both driver and passenger side. Wouldn't that be 3" lift as compared to a 2nd gen? My upper ball joints looks pissed.

The ride is so much better than stock, no more bounce. Taking it in to get aligned today.

I am wanting to try the 885s on a DCSB v6 for a level job. I'm worried they may be too tall however. If OME is recommending 887s for 2" of lift the 885s may be close to 1" on a DCSB. Any thoughts?

 

I'm in the same boat man... from what I understand the 887 is only 5 mm taller than the 885. Not sure how everyone on this forum is coming up with such drastic differences in lift heights after install. If anyone can explain this, please feel free to enlighten me. It looks like OME is recommending 887's for 2016's (from a snapshot a few posts back) but there really is no confirmation yet. I spoke with a salesperson at ARB recently who said its practically a wash since they are the exact spring rate. My concern in UCA clearance and excessive wear on existing components... keep in mind the 2017 TRD Pro is only 1 inch lift upfront.

 

That's exactly why I asked about UCA's.

 

I just talked to Dan at Wheelers Off-road and he thought 885's may make it a little nose high. He reccomended trying the 884's with Nitrocharger 90000's. Then, if it does not bring up the front enough add a 10mm lift enhancer.

Anyone try 884's yet?
