Tailgate net doesn't improve anything. Mythbusters busted that one... http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/m...s-database/driving-tailgate-fuel-consumption/

Pretty much. The air in the bed forms a bubble and allows passing air to go along the top of the cab and right over the tailgate. With the tail gate down or a net, this effect doesn't happen and apparently creates more drag...

Maybe... who knows... I can see the Aerodynamics being a little better (kinda)... but it's about 500Lbs worth of weight I'm always hauling around now... so who knows. but I'm not complaining. 17mpg in town with my heavy ass 33's is great! my Toyo's weigh almost 70lbs each! add the 30lbs of weight they took to balance LOL and it's quite impressive!

This has been my experience as well. Wost MPGs are with an empty bed. Having a canopy improves on those numbers. But the RTT on is definitely best of all for MPGs.

well... I drive like a grandma, can't go fast if I wanted to, so I shift at like 2500rpms and chill... I do the speed limit just about everywhere, on long freeway jaunts I actually will just sit at 65 (speedlimit is 70-75 here). my MPG's drop like a brick at the 70mph line. If my foot gets heavy, I end up with the 15's or the 13 like I did in the snow (but that was with hubs locked in)

I also run high pressure (35-40psi) in my tires unless it's bad weather (25-30psi) or I'm off road(10-15psi). I have a 20gal CO2 tank that I can easily air them back up when I need to.

it's ok... just think about all the Jeep owners who bought it because they thought they could go anywhere off road with them

Considering 3rd gens still dont get above 20mpg for the most part, I'd say 1st gens get good gas mileage for the vehicle class.

But then again full sizes regularly see 20mpg too now lol.

are you geared at all? I'm geared to 4.30's which puts me almost exactly stock ratio for 33's. my speedo is pretty much dead on until like 60... then it's slightly optimistic.

Guys, I think my Dakars might be broken. They don't squeak, maybe I should ask ARB for a replacement set.
